Chapter 29
Alex sat her glass of wine on the table, leaned back on the couch as Bryan
stretched his arm around her. The two had a peaceful dinner, relaxed with
some wine and cuddled. Bryan was emotionally drained from dealing with Shane
and seeing him so lifeless. He was drained but relieved in telling Alex how
he felt and for her to return the feelings. She had more to tell Bryan, about
her past but she didn't want to burden him anymore. His beautiful blue eyes
were red from stress; she just wanted to be there for him.
Bryan stretched himself on the couch, placed his head on Alex lap as she
softly stroked his hair. His eyes were closed, feeling the moment of finally
being at peace.
"Alex, please tell me why you got upset the other day when we almost
had...well we almost..."
"Had sex?" We almost had sex, Bryan. You can say it with
me...sssssseeeeeeexxxxxxx" Alex said with a grin. Bryan sat up, looking at
her, a very serious look in his eyes.
"What did I say wrong?" Bryan took her hand, tracing the inside of her
fingers.
"Bryan, I am ..." Alex looked away. The woman who could speak her mind
and
everyone else's was lost for words. For the first time, she worried how
someone felt about her. Alex could care less about people judging her but at
that moment, she very much cared how Bryan would react to her.
"Alexandria, please tell me." Bryan gently moved her chin, facing him.
"Bryan, I am virgin." Alex said quickly.
"God! I am such an ass hole." He said, smacking his head. "And I
said let's
just get it over with? Alex babe... I am so sorry, babe. I swear that I
didn't mean it like you thought I meant it. It was just the old hormones
talking. You were turning me on, being all sexy and stuff...with the
kissing...and the bra. And your body...damn!. God, honey! I am so sorry."
Bryan pulled Alex into him, Alex smiling the entire time. He had responded
the way she hoped, he had passed the first test.
"Bryan, I came to Ireland for a reason." Alex said, her face buried in
Bryan's chest. He smelled incredible and it made Alex feel more
comfortable
than she ever had. "Something happened in New York."
"What?" Bryan asked, kissing her hair.
"The last dance show I was in on Broadway, A Chorus Line..."
"You were a dancer on Broadway? No wonder your body is so awesome."
Bryan
said smiling, trying to break the tension.
"Bryan focus. I am trying to tell you something important and you are
trying
to distract me." Alex smiled, pulling away from him to see his face.
"Ok, I am." Bryan looked right into her eyes. "Focused."
Andrea and Nicky walked into Andrea's house, dishes in the sink, curtains
still closed like they had been for the last weeks.
"Sorry, it's a mess." Andrea said shyly, embarrassed by her clutter.
"I am
usually an organized person."
"I understand." Nicky gave her a crooked smile, winking at her.
"Why don't
you get comfortable and I'll make some tea."
"I'm fine, Nicky." Andrea looked into his blue eyes.
"I know." Nicky squeezed her hand. "Let me take care of you. It's
the least I
can do for Shane." Nicky tucked a small strain of hair behind his ear and
walked over to the stove putting the tea on. Andrea walked into her bedroom,
pushing the over flowing laundry out of the way and began undressing. She
slipped on her red robe, glad to be free from the restrictions of her tight
pants. She stopped in front of the mirror looking at her raccoon face. She
thought she saw a few new wrinkles from the stress and the bags under her
eyes didn't help. She quickly added some touch-ups, brushed back her red hair
and looked at the final product.
"What the hell?" Its only Nicky." She said and walked out of the
bedroom.
"Do you want milk in your tea?" Nicky said leaning into the
refrigerator,
searching for the milk.
"What?" Andrea asked standing behind him, admiring his toned football
body.
"Milk? Do you want milk in your tea?" Nicky said turning around facing
her.
"Ummm....No." Andrea said getting caught in his gaze. Nicky poured the
tea,
set it down at the table as the two sat.
"So when did you and Shane moved in together?" Nicky took a sip of his
tea,
thinking to himself how beautiful Andrea looked in her robe, the red high
lighted her eyes.
"Right after you left. We got engaged and then I moved in." Andrea
awkwardly
closed her robe, a slight blush filled her face.
"Engaged? Well, double congratulations." Nicky said lifting his cup in
a
toast. Andrea smiled in his charm; she could see how Sidney fell for him.
"Can I ask what happened the night of the accident? The papers said that
Shane was drinking. That just isn't Shane." Nicky placed his hand on the
table, tracing the wood grain. Andrea began the saga for Nicky, revealing to
him what happened, how Shane walked out, how he was mad at Mark and Kian, how
Shane started drinking days before and how Shane died several times before
going into a coma. Andrea talked and Nicky listened, he knew that she needed
to get everything off her chest. They talked for hours about Nicky's new
life, he job and his feelings for Sidney. He actually told Andrea that he
still loved Sidney very much. That he should have stayed in Sligo or insisted
more on her going to Manchester. Andrea couldn't help but feel jealous to
have someone like Nicky loved Sidney so much. To say the words of quitting
his job to be with her. It was a sacrifice and it made Nicky even more
desirable. Andrea and Nicky were finding comfort in each other, not realizing
that their hands had joined in the talk.
"I tend to wonder sometimes what my career would have been like if I slept
with the director. The other dancers felt it was no big deal; they had all
sacrifice their morals to climb the ladder. But I just couldn't do it, it
wasn't worth to jump into the sack with some crotchety middle aged man with a
ponytail so I can get better parts." Alex took a breath, Bryan still in
tune
with her words. "But then I think about how I would feel knowing that I had
sex with someone and knowing that I meant nothing to him. I want the person
that I am with to want to be with me for me, not because he is hard up for
some action from a perky breasted long-legged young girl!"
"I am glad that you stood by your morals." Bryan said smiling.
"Bryan, I want to give you..."
"I don't know if I am worthy, Alexandria." Bryan took her hand and
kissed her
fingers.
"You are so worthy. In fact, you are more then worthy because you love me.
I
know that you will have sex with me because of ME." She pointed to her
heart.
Bryan leaned in to kiss her, his very being wanting to just carry her to the
bedroom and show her how much he loved her but he knew that he had to go
slow, for her.
"I do love you, Alexandria because of the person you are not because you
are
the hottest girl that I have ever known. Wait...you ARE the hottest girl that
I have ever known. That is sorta kinda why I want to have sex with you...but
isn't the only reason. What the hell am I talking about? I am going to shut
up now." Bryan gave a shy smile and shut his mouth.
Alex laughed and kissed his lips. "That would be a wise decision."
Alex
shifted in her seat and slid closer to Bryan. She lowered her voice to a
sexy, breathy whisper. "So, you love me and I love you, right? Bryan
nodded.
"Good, we got that straight. Now let's go have sex." Alex stood
up, Bryan
followed with his arms open. Alex jumped up in his arms, kissing his neck as
he carried her to the bedroom, hitting the lights as they went.
"I can't believe how late it got." Nicky said looking at his
watch." I hope
there is a hotel vacant."
"Nicky, you can just sleep here." Andrea said walking to the sink. The
slight
breeze in the room flipped open her robe, showing Nicky why Shane always
smiled after sex.
"I don't want to impose." Nicky said looking away, his thoughts on
Andrea.
"You're not. I have enjoyed talking to you and you have been a big comfort
to
me." Andrea smiled, standing by the sink.
"The couch looks comfortable." Nicky looked toward the living room, a
stray
hair fell in his eye. Andrea got caught up in the look on his face when a
hair fell out of place. He looked like an innocent boy but when he tucked it
behind his ear, a man was revealed.
"Shane spent the last few nights on the couch, drunk." Andrea looked
down at
the floor. Nicky stood up and walked over to her.
"I know that Shane loves you, he was just hurting and felt betrayed."
Nicky
took her hand and gently pulled her into an embrace. Andrea stood stiff at
first but then his arms were warm and comforting. She buried her head in his
chest, his cologne taking over her senses. She wrapped her arms around him,
standing closer then two who weren't together should.
"I am engaged." Andrea thought to herself, Nicky squeezing her
tighter.
"I have a girlfriend." Nicky thought to himself softly stroking
Andrea's hair.
