"Are you okay, Miss?" The tall, dark haired man asked, coming up behind Jenn.
"Oh, God, I'm sorry. I thought I was the only one out here. I'm fine." She replied.
"Well, I don't mean to put my nose in where it's not belonged, but you don't look okay? I mean, unless crying makes you happy, and is a normal thing for you to do." He looked at her hoping to get an answer.
After what seemed like forever, he finally broke the silence. "My name is Adam." He held his hand out to her. "And you would be?"
"Extremely embarrassed." She looked at him and smiled at her own joke.
"Well Ms. Embarrassed, since we've met now, would you mind telling me why you're out here crying, all alone?"
Jenn laughed at him. "Well, my friend's just ditched me to go see Branna Garan perform. She's staying at the same hotel that we're at, and they ran into her earlier today and she put us on the guest list. Well everyone except for me, that is. I told the guys to go on in, and I would be fine. But I thought they knew me well enough to know that I really wanted them to come back with me. But I guess not." She explained.
"Well, I hate to break it to you, but guys are not that smart. We only see what's on the surface and not what's in here." He placed his hand on her heart. Jenn couldn't believe how she was feeling. Her heart began beating faster as he continued to keep his hand on her chest. She took a deep breath and then told him that she had to go, and opened the car door.
"No, wait a minute. Sorry if I was out of line just then. Listen, I got an extra ticket to the show. I kinda got ditched tonight too, luckily for me, I had the tickets. Why don't you join me as my date?" He looked at her expectantly. "What do you think Extremely?"
She looked deep into his big blue eyes. They were the color of the ocean meeting the sky. She smiled at him again. "Sure, why not?" She replied.
He took her hand and escorted her to the VIP area of the club.
"Wow, you must be very special if you get VIP treatment." She wowed. "I thought my guys were good." She was amazed at how quickly they were led inside.
"Well, if you like this, wait till you see the seats we have. Are you a Branna Garan fan?"
"Hell yeah." She replied.
"Well, get ready to know her very personally." He waited for the bouncer to open the door for them. Once inside, he was immediately greeted by the club owner.
"So, who's your lady friend?" She asked.
"This is Extremely Embarrassed." He said.
Jenn turned at least five shades of red. "My name is Jennifer Fitzgerald." She extended her hand to the tall, blond owner.
"Hello, Jennifer. I'm Corinna DeBourke. I own this joint." She shook Jenn's hand back. "Well, you two should go get your seats. The show's gonna start soon." Jenn thanked Corinna for having her, and started to move further inside. She didn't see Corinna pull Adam aside.
"Don't screw it up with this one okay? She seems like a lovely girl, and I wouldn't want to see you hurt her. And ya never know, she might do you some good."
"Don't worry, Cor. I have no intentions of letting her slip away." He smiled at the owner then quickly caught up to Jenn.
The usher led them to their table. It was front row centre. The best seats in the house. Jenn looked around trying to find the guys, but it was useless. The place was packed. She looked around some more, taking the place in. It was everything she had heard. It had a very exotic look to it. It was a club, but looked more like a theatre.
Finally, Corinna appeared on stage, and everyone cheered. "Well, hello to you all." She drawled, in her Australian accent. "How are you doing tonight?"
The place went up again. "Well, you are all here for a reason, and that reason is to party with one of the world's most beautiful, and talented young ladies in the world. Please, give it up for Columbia recording artist, Branna Garan." The place went wild as Branna came on stage, dressed in a pair of short black shorts and a black tank top to match. She had on long, black lace up boots, that looked great on her long legs.
She began the show with one of Jenn's favourite songs, Little Angel.
"I love this song." Jenn squealed as Branna Garan sang the song.
"Mama said that rock 'n roll was the devil's tongue." She began. "Daddy said, oh, where are ya goin', your life has just begun. All they wanted was their little girl, again, and, all she wanted was her own life. She went from Patsy Cline to Kurt Cobaine. This little angel would never be seen again. Oh, oh yeah."
Jenn sang along to the song. It was one of the few up-tempo songs that Branna had, and Jenn loved it. She was up on her feet with the other fans, dancing and singing along to the music. She loved live music.
After the intro songs, Branna stopped. "Hello, Sydney!!!!" She screamed. "How are you all tonight? Well, for those of you who don't know, my name is Branna Garan, and I'm here to rock this house. You with me?" Everyone screamed.
"On a more personal note, there are a group of young men with us tonight, all the way from Ireland. You might know them better as Westlife" Everyone screamed again, and turned to try to get a glimpse of the guys. "This next song I'm gonna do, I'd like to dedicate to one of the members of that band. He has completely stolen my heart, and I'm hoping that maybe later he would join me for a drink. Mark this is for you."
"Every night you hold me, in my dreams I see. Us waking to see the sunrise, and the stars shining from last night. If it's the last thing I ever do, I will say I love you, to you. Cause I know what I want, I'm not one of those fools who wouldn't say I love you, to you."
Jenn couldn't believe it. She turned her head and finally spotted the lads. Mark was off in another world somewhere. She was happy for him. He had a hard time finding girls that liked him for more than his money, and she knew Branna wasn't after his money. She had lots of her own. She smiled, hoping it worked out for them.
She turned back to Adam who was staring at her. "Are you a fan of those guys?" He asked her.
"You could say that." She didn't want him to know that they were her friends. She wanted to be normal for the night.
"You know, I'm not much of a Branna Garan fan. I like the harder bands like Live, but there's something about this song that gets me everytime." He looked at Jenn who was looking right back at him. She thought he was going to kiss her, and she wasn't ready for that. As if he read her mind, he placed his hand on top of hers and just held on while the song went on. Jenn, made a mental note to thank the four guys who had abandoned her earlier.
