"Well, we're here." Jenn jumped out of the car before the others had a chace to. "Hurry up guys, we're gonna miss the show. I hope we get some good seats." She was very excited.
"Geez, you'd swear she was seeing Celine Dion or something." Nicky whispered to Mark.
"You know the way she is. I swear she's on prozzak or something." They all laughed. All except Jenn, who didn't know they were talking about her. She was too busy trying to get the attention of the bouncer at the front door.
"Excuse me. Um, excuse me." She tapped the big guy on the shoulder. He turned to face her, not impressed she had touched him. The Atomic was a very high class club in Sydney, only certain people were allowed in. And that was usually very rich and very famous people. Every now and then when the club wasn't full some common citizens were allowed in.
"Can I help you with something?" The bouncer drawled.
"Yeah, me and my friends are here to see Branna Garan perform tonight?" Jenn replied.
"Well then, why don't I roll out the red carpet and sound the horns. You'll have to wait in line with the others and hope you can get in." The bouncer said sarcastically.
"No, you don't understand." At this point he was very angry and glaring at Jenn. "My friends are on the guest list. They're over there." She pointed to the guys who were looking for her. They waved back.
"What are their names?" He asked, still annoyed.
"Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Nicky Byrne, Bryan McFadden and I'm Jennifer Fitzgerald." She replied to the big man.
"Well, I see a Shane, Mark, Nicky and Bryan. But I don't see a Jennifer Fitzgerald. Are you really with these guys?" He asked.
"Yes, hold on, I'll get them. There must be a mistake." Jenn ran towards the guys and told them that she wasn't on the list.
Mark took charge of the situation. "Hi, there." He said to the bouncer. "My friend says that there's a problem with getting us in." He continued.
"No, there's no problem, with the four of you, it's just her. She's not on the list."
"But I was speaking to Ms. Garan this afternoon, personally and she promised to put us all on the list." Shane interupted.
"Well, I'm sorry, but your girlfriend isn't on the list." The bouncer was pleased with himself.
"What about Kian's spot?" Nicky asked. "Our friend Kian couldn't make it, can't she take his place?" Nicky turned to the bouncer.
"I'm afraid not. Once you're on the list, you're on. There's no substitutions after the doors open. Are you guys going in or not? You're holding up the line. You're friend can get in line and hope that she gets in. Although her chances are very slim."
"Listen guys, go on in. I'll go home with Jenn." Mark suggested.
"Are you sure?" Shane asked. "I mean, you like this bird as much as we do."
"Yeah, Mark. Don't let me ruin your night. I'll go home and try to cheer Kian up. We'll probably rent a movie or something. I mean, you do have a crush on her, Mark. So why don't you try to get her? Don't let me stop you." Jenn explained.
"Are you sure, Jenn? I mean, if you want me to come home with you I will. I mean, you're more a fan than I am, so it doesn't matter to me." Mark replied.
"No, I'm sure. Go on. Have a good time." Deep down she was wishing that he would stay with her.
The lads kissed her goodbye and said their farewells. They entered the club without her. Jenn felt horrible. She couldn't believe they could just ditch her like that.
So there she stood, all dressed up with nowhere to go. She started towards the car, when her emotions got the best of her, and she started to cry. Not noticing the tall, dark-haired guy watching her, she sat down on the curb and cried.
