WAYS TO AFFIRM

YOUR CHILD

Gift kiss: Place your hand on your childs head and pray for him or her aloud by name. Say, thank you, God, for such a wonderful gift. Then kiss your gift on the head. Children know how exciting it is to receive gifts.
A good year: Have a few photos of your child doing praiseworthy things (reading the Scripture, studying, drying the dishes, helping the needy, etc.) made into wall calendars for your child and you.

Surprise eat-outs: Whisk your child out of bed on a Sunday morning and surprise him or her by going out to breakfast. Youll both have fun and your child will know he or she is more important than your weekend to-do list.
Be your childs pen pal: Offer to be your childs pen pal and let him or her write to you. Use notes, funny postcards and letters as an opportunity to put what you feel about your children in writing. They love to receive written compliments.

A dozen grins: Each time you catch your child doing praiseworthy things, write it down on a piece of paper and put in an empty bag. When you have twelve good things, present him or her with one dozen Grad!

Something very strange happens in the eaglets nests when their feathers grow sufficiently for them to fly. No matter how often they see their parents come and go and fly around the nest, they are afraid to fly. They are willing to be cared for all their lives. What do the eagles do on seeing that their little ones are afraid? They throw them out of their nest without pity and the eaglets are forced to fly, and much to their surprise and delight realize that they can also soar to unheard-of-heights! So are human potentials waiting to be realised.
