Tension
Tension seems to be the number one problem today. But many have learned to develop inner peacefulness and live without tension. A prominent businessman proposed a method to be free from tension:
"Every morning and evening, I repeat four statements, meditating on each. One is from Confucius: "The way of a superior man is threefold: virtuous, he is free from anxieties; wise, he is free from perplexities; bold, he is free from fear". The second one is Robert Louis Stevenson’s advice: "Sit loosely in the saddle of life." The third is from the sixteenth century mystic, St Theresa: "Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you. Everything passes away except God. God alone is sufficient." The fourth is a familiar quotation from the book of the Prophet Isaiah: "In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength" (Is 30:15).
Another excellent technique for overcoming tension is to practice silence. Each day, observe a period of absolute quietness, for there is healing power in silence.

Pleasing God
Do not forget to do good and to help one another, because these are the sacrifices that please God (Heb 13:16).
Most people desire to do good and to please God. Different people employ different means to this end. Some try to please God through cultic worship, others through reading sacred books and chanting hymns, still others through fasting and penance. Some make great sacrifices to go on pilgrimages. Yet, what pleases God more than anything else is being good and kind and helpful to others.
