General Pershing, commander-in-chief of the Allied
Forces in the First World War had a number of teeth pulled out by his
dentist. Admiration for the General ran so high at the time that his
teeth were sold as souvenirs and were fetching fantastic prices as the
�Famous General�s Teeth�.
The General wanted to stop this foolishness, and sent
out aides to round up the molars. They returned with a total of 175
teeth, all supposed to be his.

Rembrandt had been working hard on his magnificent
canvas, �The Anatomy�. His solicitous apprentices remarked: "Master, you
are looking drawn out and tired. You are exhausted."
"Exhausted!" exclaimed Rembrandt. "No. Spent, yes,
but not exhausted. Exhausted means drained out, empty, unfulfilled.
Spent means fulfilled, completed, inwardly enriched, and happy."

Elizabeth Kenny, the famed Australian nurse and
originator of the Kenny method of polio treatment, was once asked by a
friend how she managed to stay cheerful constantly. Said the friend, "I
suppose you were just born calm and smiling."
"Oh, no," laughed the nurse. "As a girl, my temper often got out of
control. But one day, when I became angry at a friend over some trivial
matter, my mother gave me a piece of advice that I have since stored in
