RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT UNIT

INTRODUCTION

Library Science Resource Development Unit is responsible for selecting and acquiring KUIN reading materials printed and non-printed appropriate and quality of the library. It also serves to facilitate access to all forms of environmental information in all matters except the magazine to meet the needs of library users effectively. Proposal and application of academic staff KUIN channeled to this section for the purchase process. The library has also received many donations of library materials from individuals and institutions.

FUNCTION

  1. Purchase of library materials including printed materials such as books, thesis, phamplet and non-printed materials such as CD-ROMs, tapes, videos and other.
  2. Material processing before sent to Mechanical Processing Division.
  3. Controlling gift book and a book exchange library with external agencies.
  4. Receive materials through purchase orders.
  5. Receiving material donations and gifts.

CUSTOMER POLICY

  1. Purchases / orders are only made by Government Contractors alone except for printed materials in domestic and non-printed materials such as tape, video tape, CD-ROM and others.
  2. Proposed purchase of books is made by the university academic staff with respect Program received support from the Dean, Deputy Dean or Head of Program.
  3. Non-academic staff can also make a proposal with the support of each division head.
  4. Professional library staff can also make a backup / election but only for books that shaped the general reference books or novels and story books for the 'general reading'.
  5. Number of copies for each title is between 3-5 copies of only except textbooks and reference point, one copy only.
  6. Type of material 'hard cover' or thick skin is preferred.
  7. Books worth more than RM500 will be placed in groups of books 'R' (reference) berlebal red.
  8. The main reference materials such as dictionaries, atlases, encyclopedias, handbooks, and many others are also placed in group-bahan'R materials' (reference).
  9. For books that are included with the CD, the CD will be recorded in Reference Unit. While the book will be placed on open shelves or 'ref' (reference).
  10. Selection is based on INSANIAH Library policy towards the development of knowledge and information to students.

AQUISITION LIBRARY MATERIALS

The materials for the library collection available: Purchases through central contracts Purchases by the Library Gifts and donations from government and private agencies and individuals

  • PROCEDURE: THE ACQUISITION OF BOOKS AND MATERIALS INFORMATION
  • Producer objective is to buy books and other informational materials for the library collection. This procedure applies to the purchase of books and information materials before being processed by Technical Processing unit. Library Assistant is responsible for receiving and making sure each title and ingredient information sought by the lecturer or librarian will be reviewed at the list of duplicates of Library Information System Online (OPAC) to ensure that the book was sought not in the list of library books. If the book you requested is not in the list of library collections, the order book will be made to the supplier who has been appointed.

  • PROCEDURE: BINDING AND WEEKLY MAGAZINE
  • Producer objective is to give details of the process of the binding of magazines and journals. This procedure is used to manage the process of the binding of magazines and journals. Any difficulties and problems related thereto will be referred to binding the selected companies. Library Assistant is responsible for collecting and ensure magazines and journals sent to be bound by registered suppliers.

  • PROCEDURE: DAMAGE CONTROL BOOK
  • The objective is to ensure producer irreparable damage to books. This procedure is used to manage the damage to library books. Any difficulties and problems that arise will be referred to the selected Binding Company. Library Assistant is responsible for ensuring the books sent for repairs by registered suppliers. Librarian is responsible for verifying the books that have been corrected by category damage.
