Every morning is like a new begining. Most of the days I wake up with great enthusiasm for the day ahead of me. There are days in which I have over scheduled myself, not out of desire to get things done but the need get them taken care of. It seems no matter how much I can put behind me more obsticles will fall into my path. I didn't think today was gonna be any different. I can look back and think of what I have done, but then I realize how far left I really have to go. I am pitted in the middle of two dueling factions in this city and I'm no closer to dealing with either of them, in fact now I have a target on my head. What I don't understand is why they haven't came after me yet. The situation is clear to me. I have yet to provoke a full out war, so there Just might be alittle room for alittle diplomacy. These people are not easy to talk to, but my hope is that they might be reasonable. I put faith into this and if I'm wrong I could lose everything. I took some time in the market to get myself some supplies. They were little things a person needs to have to get by in a modern world, as I haven't desented into barbarism Just yet. I noticed at one of the shops that someone was haggling with the merchant while the other was sneaking goods into his Jacket pockets. I did what I could. I grabbed his arm as he reached to steal something, and twisted it behind him. I forced him to trip forward and planted my foot on the back of his head, keeping his face in the dirt. I took my sword, sheath and all, I managed to slip it in between the other man's legs as he tried to run away. He stumbled for quite a few feet until running head first into a wood counter. The guards came quickly enough to see what happened. "Dalen, whats going on here?" Before I could respond, the merchant spoke up. "He caught these thieves before they could rob me." "Good work Dalen. The city owes thanks for all of your work." With that he whipped the two guys into submission and drug them off. The shop keeper was very grateful, he even offered me a discount. I only took a few essentials and he told me "if thats all you want, you can have it for free. They would have robbed me for more then that if you weren't here." I went to the Midnight Moon like I did every night. I stood in guard to protect the place like I stood guard everynight. Nothing happened like most nights. I do think people are noticing me more then they were before, I am not sure why, but I don't want to attract too much attention. |
