I had to pay a visit to someone before I went out. I had business to attent to and he has been more then Helpful to me. "Malk, Hows my armor coming along?" "Good. Took time. Did good Job. You will like." I examined the peice. It was reinforced for stability and life. I was never instructed on using armor. I was taught the gentlemens duel. Armor was meant for cheaters and cowards they said. They would play fight to show off their status and to impress girls. I had gotten so much training, and I was risking my life. It might take alittle time to get use to completely, but it was as much like a heavy cloth. It looked nice as well. It was not really fancy, but it looked like alot of care went into it. I couldn't find a flaw. "Can make more. Need front too. Light leather, real tough. Leggings, warm ones, winter comes soon." He has been so good to me, making great armor and fixing it. He also making me a deal. I didn't really want more armor to weigh me down. I knew it would be quality though and there would be a time when I might need it. I rather have it then wait to have it made in the future. "I can spare twenty drakers, thats all." "Make shirt, fifteen drakers. Buy pants later." "You have a deal." He took my measurements yet again and began working on it right after. I put it on and hoped I would get use to it. I went back to my house to talk to Ondre again. "I need your help. I'm going after Brick tonight." "I take it you need me to back you up, no shame in that. I will cover your back. I should warn you first. I work in the shadows." I looked at him as I came to a realization. "Your one of them, that hide from a head to head fight." "You got it backwards Dalen, I take out those that don't think to take such cover. I bet your one of those." "How am I to count on your assistance if I can't see you." "You will see the bodies of course. You might think me a coward, but I'm probally Just as valuable in a fight as you are. If you don't wish my help, I can stay behind. I haven't had a good night mug of ale in some time." "I meant no insult Ondre. I should at least allow you the chance to prove yourself." "I can say alot of things about you Dalen, but I certainly can't say your not fair. I'll be right behind you." I sat discussing the little strategy I could not knowing the terrain. we waited til near nightfall before we set out. The stars where out when we reached the woods. The sounds of the forest are all the same too me. I heard something followed by a *clink*. I then noticed a man falling out of a tree. I went to examine him. He had a dagger stuck right through his armor. Ondre came up behind me and grabbed it. "I believe that belongs to me." I didn't meet much resistance. I meet some sword play. I dodged and parried a number of strikes. They put so much force into there attacks that when they miss they nearly topple. They don't have any finesse or they only have fought old trees and stuffed dummies. The main guards I hoped to be tougher. There was two at the front door. They saw me immediately as I approached. They both charged on my location. A dagger in the leg slowed down one. I have been charged many times. As he neared, I stepped aside and swung into his back. He eventually slid face first into the dirt. They both struggled to flee into the woods. I let them go, I was after one man. I entered the house and there he was. He sat at the table eating. He rose and prepare for a fight. It was safe to assume there was many goblets of wine consumed before I arrived. He had a fury in his eyes I seldom see. "Scrawny weakling, I'm gonna rip out your guts." I chose not to respond. He came after me and in my off had I punch right into his stomach and he fell flat on the ground and curled up. "Stop, I'll tear away your limbs." I kicked him in the face and he pretty much shut up. I tied him up. As he was out, I took the necklace around his neck. I dragged him all the way back to town when he came too. He did nothing but insult me and make threats the whole way their. I wondered why I didn't kill him. I reached the guard towers and they took him over from me. I received my payment. It more then made up for the effort I put into it. Fifty drakers, now I had alittle money to spend. I was so tired, I went straight to bed. The house in the market district was closer. It was time I slept in my own place anyway. |
