KINNEY, occurred at her home "Woodside" on Monday, 30th ult., following a brief illness from pneumonia. The deceased was born in Pictou 80 years ago and was a daughter of the late Charles and Christine McLean OULTON. Mr. & Mrs. KINNEY were married in 1885 at Pugwash River. There they resided until four years ago when they removed to Pugwash. The funeral took place on Wednesday at 2 pm., Rev J.R. MILLAR conducting the services. Interment was in the Pugwash Cemetery. A. HOLLIS was in charge of the funeral and the pallbearers were A.R.D. MITCHELL, Demain FULLERTON, A. KENNEDY and Mark CHESNUTT. The late Mrs. KINNEY was a lady of strong personality. She was a life long member of the Presbyterian Church and in her demise St. Matthew loses one of its most esteemed members.

Born in Grovenor, Guysboro Co., he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (Nichols) Fitt, and would have been 73 in October. He had retired as a miner from Acadia Coal Co., some ten years ago. He was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes Church. He is survived by three daughters, Annie in Stellarton; Johanna (Mrs. James Hafey), Stellarton; Mary (Mrs. George Joyce), Westville Road; four sons, Parker, well known taxi driver living at Plymouth, Stephen in Stellarton; Sylvester, Lourdes; Ned in Plymouth; one sister, Mima (Mrs. Jack Carrigan), Stellarton; one brother, Lionel, of Blue Mountain and Stellarton. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Alice Flavin, and by four children. The remains are resting at the home and the funeral will be held Monday in time for 9am Mass at Our Lady Of Lourdes Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the former Elizabeth Mae (Mina) Fitt and was born at Antigonish County, a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Nichols) Fitt. Mrs. Carrigan was a member of Our Lady Of Lourdes and of the CWL. She is survived by seven daughters: Beatrice (Mrs. John Doucette), Plymouth, Mass.; Johanna (Mrs. William Heighton), Stellarton; Willah (Mrs. Russell Chadwick), Pictou Landing; Frances (Mrs. Harry Dooley), Westville; Florence (Mrs. John Copeland), Stellarton; Marguerite (Mrs. Max Barton, Yorkshire, England; Virginia (Mrs. Webster Cunningham), Stellarton; also a son, George, Stellarton; 23 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Lionel Fitt, Plymouth. She was predeceased by her husband, John W., in 1961, a son John in infancy and three sisters and two brothers. The remains will be transferred from the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Acadia Ave., to the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Webster Cunningham, Claremont Ave., after 7pm Saturday evening and the funeral will be held on Monday at 10a.m. from Our Lady Of Lourdes Church. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The past few years, he and Mrs. Swaine made their homes with their children, first with their daughter Cora (Mrs. Charles Kavanaugh) and within the past year or so with their son Fred and Mrs. Swaine, who tenderly cared for him in his illness. The deceased leaves to mourn for him his widow; three sons, Walter and Fred, Fishery Officer, both at Canso, Clarence, Western Canada; two daughters, Cora (Mrs. Charles Kavanaugh), Montreal, and Annie Laurie, teacher at Vancouver. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. W. H. Johnson at the residence of his son.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, FRED, fisheries officer, Canso; with whom the aged couple resided during recent years; WALTER, a carpenter, also of Canso; and CLARENCE in Western Canada; and two daughters, MRS. CHARLIE KAVANAGH, Montreal and ANNIE LAURIE, teacher, Vancouver, B.C. The funeral was conducted by the Rev.W.H. Johnson, Pastor of the Canso Baptist Church.
