Collection Policy:

The intended users of this Web site are those who own or want to start a small business in the area of Canada. This Web site is designed to provide them with techniques for developing their ideas, starting a new venture and improving their existing small business. This Web site primarily focus on Canadian resources, but some other resources relevant to the area of both Canada and the States of America are also covered.

The resources will be selected only after meeting the following collection criteria:

• Is the content appropriate for intended audience in terms of the depth of material and level of detail? Is it appropriate for a beginner of small business?

• Is the content current? Is the site up to date?

• Is all of the material copyright clear and otherwise legal? Exceptions for "fair use" may apply. Author or persons responsible should be identified and contact information provided. Advertising and sponsorship should be identified.

• Resources must be freely available and without any expense to the user. 

• The content must be of a business issue, business challenge nature. It should be comprehensive and well-organized. The links must work.

• Text can be read easily, Web site load time is reasonable. Icons are clearly identifies in terms of location and purpose. All content on site is accessible directly through browser.

RCSB takes a “collection development” approach to developing this site. RCSB reserves the right to refuse any material we deem to be of “low value” to our target audience of corporate users and business researchers. Our site is more valuable to users because we follow these guidelines.
