A Living Room

Some time ago I posted a tutorial on how to create a realisting lightbulb with Imagine. This image is the image that I was working on at the time. While it doesn't visibly contain the bulb that I created, I used similar techniques to create the lamp shade.

The image was rendered at 4896x1920 without antialiasing and then downsampled. The resulting file printed stunningly on the Epson Photo EX printer that I recently purchased. Every person (other than my wife, who knew what I had been working on) that I showed the print to was stunned when they found out that the image was computer generated -- all thought that it was a photograph. (The heavy -- 81 lb. -- Epson photo paper had much to do with that I am sure).

This image was created over the course of a number of months, with me working on it here and there as time permitted. The photos images I scanned of my wedding photos and a photo of our daughter.

Unfortunately, as is usual, this small version of the image doesn't do justice to its larger brethren, so -- unlike any other image in my collection -- I have provided a link to a larger version of this image:

High Resolution

I have also created a small collection of alternate views of this scene. Check them out.
