INFERI was formed in October 1997 by Sebastián (drums/keyboards) and Fabricio (guitar). The band was completed with Ariel (bass) and Maximiliano (vocals). This line-up only lasts until January 1998, when Maximiliano leaves the band and is replaced by Marcelo on vocals. Right after that the band starts to play with the most important acts of the black/death metal scene of Argentina, earning the recognition of the fans and specialized press.

In January 1999 INFERI get in the studio to records what will turn to be their debut album, "The Call Of The Dark Side", featuring 9 pure aggressive black metal tracks. The album was released by FURIAS RECORDS, and not only in Argentina but in Europe, Asia and America.

After "sold out" the album, the band decide to start to write new songs, and in the same time Gastón is presented as the new keyboardist.

 On that period INFERI made an endless tour, in which new fans discover the band, following instantly the "black hordes". Some of the most unforgettable moments were the shows with INCANTATION, NEUROSIS INC., "CUMBRE DEL METAL 3" in Showcenter (Buenos Aires) and the "METAL FESTIVAL" in Posadas, Misiones (Arg.).

Following some internal problems, INFERI remains on "stand by" from the end of 2002 until March 2004, when the band gets back on the road... and stronger than ever!!! In the same time INFERI get into studios again to start the recording of their long-awaited second full-length, "The Awakening Of The Black Hordes", with songs written in a short period of time in July 2001.

For that recording only the founder-members Sebastián (drums) and Fabricio (guitar/bass), along with Gastón (keyboards) remain in the band. The vocals on that album were recorded by the guttural, blasphemous singers Elizabeth and Mariana, and the ex-vocalist of the band, Marcelo, on 2 of the songs.

The album was recorded in a very professional studio in Argentina, mixed and mastered in "La Nave De Oseberg Studios" to get that very high level in the sound quality, that along with their majestic musicianship made this album a true masterpiece of the genre.

Their second album, "The Awakening Of The Black Hordes", is finally released on the 18th July 2005 by SOUL DYING LABEL in cooperation with HURLING METAL RECORDS. This marks the beginning of a long term cooperation between the two labels in support of the extreme metal scene. And, of course, the return of the biggest black metal band in South America.
