| When is the walk? Friday, October 18, 2002-Sunday, October 20, 2002 Where will you sleep? What about bathrooms? A legion of volunteers will set up a tent city with portable showers and toilets, along with food service, chiropractic care and massage. Each walker will set up a tent that is provided by the volunteers, creating a sea of blue bubbles. Why are you doing this? I like extreme sports, think about this as an extreme form of walking, but on behalf of my Angel. Where does the money go? What does it support? Net proceeds from the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Days are managed and disbursed by the Avon Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) accredited public charity. Funds are awarded in an annual grant cycle to leading national cancer centers, medical centers, service organizations and breast health programs in the Avon Breast cancer 3-Day areas and nationwide. The funding focus is on reaching medically underserved women, including minorities, the elderly, underprivileged and under-or un-insured women. The funding supports a comprehensive array of breast cancer medical research into the possible causes, prevention, treatment and cure of breast cancer; clinical care for patients; support services for patients and their families; educational seminars and advocacy training ; and non-profit, community-based early detection programs across the country. What is the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade? The Avon Breast cancer 3-Day series is one of several fundraising programs of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, a U.S. initiative launched by Avon Products, Inc. in 1993. Funds are also raised through the sale of special Avon Crusade "pink ribbon" products by Avon Sales Representatives nationwide, including a new pin launching in late April 2002, and by special events by such as the 2001 Kiss goodbye to Breast Cancer Awards. Through 2001, some $165 million net has been generated by Avon Crusade for the breast cancer cause. Is there a photo album on the internet of what you're going to be doing? I'm glad you asked.
