How to help impoverished families on reservations

What is the main way we can help/bring awareness?

There are many ways we are able to help/bring awareness to helping families on Indian reservations.

1. The first way you may be able to help is by donating to non-profit organizations that support the American Indian youth and families
  1. American Indian College Fund-

Provides scholarships for American Indian students looking for higher education. The American Indian College Fund gives out nearly 6,000 scholarships every year for students looking for expanding their lives through education.

  2. National Indian Child Care Association-

Focuses on providing high quality child care for American Indian families in need of it.

  3. Partnership with Native Americans-

Main goal is to provide impoverished Native Americans with the help and support they need, by giving aid and services.

2. Become informed on American Indians and reservations.

The best way to help is by informing yourself on the topic. This goes for anything, but is especially true here. This prevents you from your personal biases taking over how you think. Doing this will also help you learn more information on what tribes were like before Europeans arrived. There are also many great museums that give information on Americas native communities.

3. Visit or volunteer at an Indian Reservation

Doing this can provide real world experience on what a reservation is like, and the people that live there.
