History of Blacks in Librarianship:

Noteworthy Fact:

The first black librarian in Indiana was Lillian C. Hall. She was admitted to the Indiana State Library School in 1915 becoming their first black student. From 1921-1927 she served at the Dunbar Branch Library in Indianapolis. In 1927 she began working at the Attucks Branch Library also in Indianapolis. Prior to working in Indianapolis, she was a librarian at the Cherry Street Branch Library in Evansville, Indiana from 1915-1921. --- Source: Who's Who in Colored America, 1933-37, Who's Who in Library Service.
