Background: Michael Hager was born to single mother Judy Hager of Independence, Pennylvania. Judy's only child, Michael was the apple of his mothers eye, but she couldn't afford to give him everything he ever desired. His entire life was filled with stuggle and giving up the things that he desired as they tried to make ends meet.

Michael tried his best to make the most of his situation, but fell short several times. His optimism helped him make it through several hard times, but he always seemed a little bit jealous of others that had more than him. He has a defining hatred of William Teagarden, son of Senator Markus Teagarden, because he had the life that he always wanted. Things were only made worse when he and William were put into the same classes in High School, but came to a head when they were made roommates at Independence University of Pennsylvania.

Mr. Hager struggled through college not academically but in searching for the means to pay for it. His mother had taken up a job working for Crossroads Mall in the day time, and a job working at Teagarden Manor at night cleaning up. Michael also took on a job as a busboy at The Taco Hut in the day time and at Hollowed Grounds (located in Crossroads Mall) at night. Somehow through all this he managed to graduate with Honors from Independence University with a degree in Business.

When Mayor Hamilton Grange decided to retire, Michael decided to run for the open position. Despite being the underdog candidate he won election and is the current Mayor of Independence - entering the second year of his term in office. He hopes to one day be the successor of Markus Teagarden for the Senate Seat.
