Tour de Tohoku
In the summer of 1998, Chris, Dave and me did a 9 day quick tour of Tohoku. We caught the train up to Mutsu near the tip of Aomori Prefecture and then preceded to ride back down to Ohira Village (where I used to live) in Miyigi Prefecture. It wasn't a complete tour of Tohoku as we only passed through three of the five prefectures. We rode through Aomori, most of Akita and half of Miyagi Prefecture. Of course, being the adventurous cyclists that we are, we picked the most mountainous, but probably also the most scenic routes to ride through. Unfortunately, most of my photos are back in Sydney and I have only scanned a handful of photos from about 15 spare photos that I have inadvertently left here in Japan. As a result, I can only show you some of the pictures of the tour. The next time, I am home (with my scanner as well), I will redo this section of my homepage.
The three of us in Hachimantai National Park, somewhere on Route 341 in Akita Prefecture. It had just rained and we made the most of a break in the rain to take photo. Lucky for us, we worked out how to use the auto-timer on my camera.
Despite the rain and being soaked from head to toe, I could still manage a silly pose at Lake Tamagawa on Route 341. This lake is about 15km north of Lake Tazawa.

Chris and I at Lake Towada in Aomori Prefecture. Dave was the photographer.
