Comfortable

A/N You asked for it. You asked for a sequel and I’ve been harassed and bombarded by your whining and moaning for SOMETHING more to this story. WELL HERE IT IS GOD DAMMIT. Lol, just joking of course! Because of your ‘harassing’ ‘bombarding’ ‘whining’ and ‘moaning’ I’ve finally started writing the true sequel to The Student, which is long coming, I'm not so hard pressed to admit. However, you won’t find any Orli/Laura sex-fests here. You won’t find any trips to the bathroom at the three in the morning. Instead, I present to you the story of Kat and Sean, a pair that I fell in love with when I started.

For the first time ever, I’d like to make a story dedication. I know this is sappy, but it’s another reason I’ve been prompted to do this.

To my Katya from her Laura. I hope you find ALL the happiness and fulfillment out of life that your ‘alter-ego’ counterpart in my stories has found. You deserve it bird, more than anyone else I know.

With all the sappy shit done, I’d like to begin.

Btw, the title is a whim. My Story Writing professor would probably murder me if she knew I was doing something so careless with my writing, but I’m listening to John Mayer’s Comfortable right now and I can’t help myself. **helpless grin** SEE!

~!~!~!~!~!~!~!~

Tyler, Michigan
Sometime, 1996
The Mortensen Residence

The darkness spreads across the screen, flowing over the watching young woman and her friend like a dark blanket. The ominous music played as well, familiar to them both. Their breaths held, they both smile as a dark, seductive voice calls out from the shadows.

“Hello James.”

The man stares as another steps out from the black gloom. The scars that cover one side of his face don’t detract from his dangerously handsome looks. Instead, they add to it. The girl shivers at the sound of the voice.

“Alec . . . “

The first man’s whispers are almost scared, unbelieving in what he’s seeing.

The second man chuckles slightly and steps forward. “Back from the dead. No longer than just an anonymous star on the memorial wall at MI6.” He watches the other man, who stands transfixed, as if he’s looking at a ghost. “What’s the matter, James? No glib remark? No pithy comeback?”

The girl shivers again, burying her face in her arms as a silly grin breaks out across her face. “God, he’s so hot!”

Her companion whacks her in the arm, never looking away from the TV. “Shut the fuck up. This is the best damned part of the whole movie.”

“Oh, I disagree. The train scene is so much hotter. ‘Tastes like . . . like strawberries.”

Her friend groans and hits the girl with a pillow. “Give it a rest. He’s like, twenty years older than you!”

They both turn back to the TV.

The two men stare at each other, both wishing the other a painful death.

“ . . . I trusted you, Alec.”

“Trust. What a quaint idea.”

“Oh, dear god. I’ll teach you to trust. Oh yes Alec. I will!” The girl rolls to her back theatrically, pulling her pillow over her head and moaning into it loudly.

“Jesus tap dancing Christ Katie. My mom’s gonna hear you and kick you out.” Her friend rises and shuts the TV off, leaving the eerie drone of the VCR running in the silent night. Katie rolls back over and regards her friend seriously.

“I’m gonna tap that one day Kali. Just you wait and see. One day, Sean Bean will be begging me to grab his shallalie and make him scream like a girl.”

Their straight faces last for no more than a few seconds before they both collapse laughing. In the next room, a shrill scream is heard as Kali’s mom wakes. They both reduce their giddiness to a much more mother-friendly level.

“One day.”
