Frequently Asked Questions

The Basics: What is this all about?

Hi there! Welcome to The Rubberist/Latex Emblem Site. I created these symbols, icons, emblems, designs, etc... (call them what you like), as a result of a discussion that started on the IAR. We felt a need for a symbol that could easily be recognized by those in our community, for the purpose of expanding relationships and knowledge.

We decided that "Two Dots" should indicate a basic preference for a fetish Latex/Rubber lifestyle. These particular dots in Graphic format look like shiny balls... perhaps shiny rubber balls... :)

One of the best aspects of this design is that it lends itself to change. If other aspects of the symbol look familiar to you then they should. I have utilized other widely known lifestyle symbols to compliment the rubberist emblem. The following is and example of each:

Rubberist/Latex Fetishist. Indicates the core fetish. Also used by "Straight" fetishists.

Member of the International Association of Rubberists. Rubberist.net is the free online community of the IAR. The mission of Rubberist.net is to be a platform for the free exchange of friendship, information, literary commentary and fantasy between adults (only) with a fetish for latex, rubber or PVC on a global level.

BDSM Rubberist. Special thanks to Quagmyr, creator of The Emblem Project for the use of his symbol.

TV/TS/TG Rubberist. Transvestite, Transsexual, or Transgendered Rubberist. For more information on the TV/TS/TG symbol check out the Rainbow Icon Archive.

Can I use this symbol on my webpage?

These images are copyrighted by myself and the IAR (2000 IAR/RT), however we offer them freely for you to utilize to help spread the word. Please post them on your website, to show others your interests. We think that this will help to foster a sense of community spirit throughout the web.

What about my Lifestyle? I like rubber too...

If you think we should add another version of the symbol to be combined with another lifestyle please let me know. I am willing to create the symbol along with the symbol of your lifestyle and post it here. You can e-Mail me at [email protected].

How do you use the symbol in Text Format?

The secondary reason for utilizing the "two dot" approach was for individuals to communicate via text, e-Mail, letters, etc... in a way that would not immediately alert others to their fetish. But to those in the know it just might bring a smile to your face. ;)

We ask you to utilize two dots in the signature or tagline of your text messages. For Example:

"Thanks for writing! We will have to talk again soon!

..Mary.."

By utilizing two dots in a row, you are saying that you are a rubberist. Imagine your surprise if you were to get a memo from your boss, an eMail from an Internet penpal, or a note from your girlfriend/boyfriend, signed this way! It might just make you bold enough to talk "real-time" about it with them. Other variations on this theme are as follows:

"..Mary" "Mary.." ":Mary:" ":Mary" "Mary:" ".. Protect the rubber trees of the Amazon! .."

The orientation of the dots makes no difference as long as there are two consecutive dots.

Where can I find more variations of the symbols?

Please check out the "Grey Page" and "White Page" Links.

What is it that you are trying to convey to others?

We want to let others know of our interest who are also "in to" this fetish. Perhaps to strike up real-time conversations and relationships with others who share our interests. At the same time making difficult for the "vanilla" sector to recognize what our symbol means...

Who is the audience?

Alternative Lifestylists... Primarily Latex & heavy Rubberists, but also Gay, lesbian, Leather Lovers, Bears, Transgendered/tv/ts, BDSM folk, as well as the straight people & the general public who may also be into this rubbery lifestyle.

Where is it that you want to say this?

"In Public" is the answer here. Whether that be in e-Mails, memo's, or your webpage. It is only in this way that we can have the potential to meet and speak with others out there with our interest vs. being limited to cyberspace.

Can I get this symbol as a bumper sticker, cling decal, jewelry, t-shirt, rubber patch?

We are currently researching the cost and feasibility of this option. At his point the answer is no, but we are open to your suggestions as to what you would be interested in seeing. If there is enough support then we can make these items into a reality. If you know of any resources for thisplease let me know.

Stay well rubbered!

..RedTex..
