The idea behind an improvifilm is that it lets natural stories get told. Improvisation on the stage allows complete free form for actors, including their decision of where the scene is taking place. However, when a scene or story is influenced by a Guide who chooses the location and the dress of the scene, enough minds are at work to create an environment where stories can be told like a stream of consciousness straight from the surroundings. The Guide's influence on the actors in the first scene is only through the environment and where he/she points the camera, which inevitably affects the actors. However, the actors may take things in any direction they choose, allowing for more of a free forum of organic acting and therefore organic stories. |
