| im-pe-tus n. 1. an impelling force; an impulse. 2. the force or energy associated with a moving body what impetus strives to do as a band is to pull people closer to God. they have always wanted their songs to be a catalyst, helping people on their journeys, so the name impetus was an obvious choice. the band started as a vision of lead singer ben palm. he had always dreamed of playing the songs he wrote with a band, and that dream finally became a reality when he asked a couple buddies to back him up for a concert he was putting on to help raise money for a missions organization. the band grew in popularity, played a few more shows, and released their first CD, Live, on September 13, 2005. what helps the band is the amazing versatility the band has. both ben and alex can play the guitar, bass, and piano, which opens up many opportunities for the two of them to switch around and bring in other players (an extra guitarist or a different bassist, for example). This gives the band the opportunity to keep their sound simple or fill it out with others, depending on their audience. |
