The Calgary Dragon Boat Festival had 200m races on a warm and sunny saturday and 500 m races on a cold and rainy sunday.  Our steersman Jim wore a very colorful outfit and Laura almost froze her buns off.  The cover bands that played on saturday and sunday were great, but the Northern Pikes were not.
Considering we spent most of sunday huddled in the tent trying to stay warm and dry, we had a lot of laughs and the team spirit was great.

Team ID attended the first annual Medicine Hat Dragon Boat Festival on August 18.  It was held in Elkwater and we placed second in the A division.

Team ID has just finished the Lethbridge Dragon Boat Festival.  We had 3 great races and finished in the A division in 9th place out of 41 mixed teams.  We also won the highly coveted tent decorating contest.  Thanks to all the Team ID paddlers that helped to decorate.  A few water fights broke out and brave paddlers armed with supersoakers defended our honor.

A big thank you to our drummer Karen and steersman Dave for their excellent coaching.  Amber again did a great job as our team manager.  Lamont celebrated his birthday on saturday.  We had a variety of deli meats in our tent including chicken, salami, pepperoni and turkey.  The only problem was that it all looked and tasted a lot like ham.

Chris was being a fashion diva because she could not decide whether her blue, green, or red shirt looked better.  Congratulations to the Dragon Masters for finishing 2nd in the C division and the Junior Dragon Masters and Wyrmling Dragons for finishing 2nd and 3rd in the Junior division.

Team ID is starting the 2007 Dragon Boat season with pool practices.  They are on Tuesday nights at Nicholas Sheran Leisure Centre and the first practice is April 3, 2007.  We hope to be paddling at Henderson Lake by the middle of May.

Team ID made it back from the Regina Dragon Boat Festival on September 1 and 2, 2006.  It was held on a beautiful weekend in Wascana Park.  We raced three times on the saturday on a course with great lane markings. Dawn celebrated her birthday and received the "shit magnet".  Team ID partied late into the night in the Dragon's Lair.

We finished in second place in the C division final.  A great finish to the 2006 season.
