Report: A very, very long day.

Alright, so, as you may have noticed, I woke up before eight for a convention that didn't start until four in the afternoon.  I also got very, very little sleep.  I was working on costumes until six in the morning and, as a result, I was a little tired.  My boyfriend's a dealer (ha hago ahead and ask me what he deals again, you silly twits I call friends :P) and thus, the early start.  Actually, he wasn't planning to pick me up until eight thirty.  The reason I woke up so early was to go shopping last minute for a digital camera as the one I have taken for previous conventions was unavailable.  The shopping trip was unsuccessful and I was quite out of it by the time I got to Brian's house.  We picked up his co-worker and headed off to the store (E.K. Trading on the Mississauga/Etobicoke bordergo there and buy stuff ^_^V) to pack up merchandise and partake of some nourishing food.  My first impression of Walter?  Nice guy, but a bit of a back seat driver.  In any case, I proceeded to eat all the seafood I could find and leave the rest to Brian.  I was scheduled to meet Yukito and Bardiel at noon at the MTCC, as that had been the latest time I was expected to get there, but we arrived late thanks to one delay or another.almost an hour late, in fact, by the time I got down to meet them in the lobby.  I'm sorry, girls, I really am.  We went to Second Cup and chatted a bit.  It was awkward, mostly because we didn't really have the same connection in our final year of high school that we did in middle school, but it was still a conversation I'm glad I had.  Apparently I must have made Brian sound awful as Yukito kept asking me why I was going out with him.  Oops.

Took them back with me to the convention centre, where I found Brian and asked him to help me look after Yukito and Bardiel, as they were staying for a bit.  Also located Karen (http://www.deadjournal.com/users/astrael/), Greg, Encubed (http://www.livejournal.com/users/encubed) and other people.  Paid Karen back and got gifties from her in the form of Gohou Drug 1 and 2, plus a Satsuki button.  That would've made me sparkle, but I was tired and stressed about making sure Yukito and Bardiel found their stay worthwhile.  Chatted with some of the early con-goers, including Adrian and Dan (Seiya).  Ran into M.A. at some point, which made me very glad, but she had to go and register and such, so we didn't talk for very long.  Went up to the dealer floor with Brian and got changed into my costume, which made me feel very self-conscious.  Naturally, Brian, being the predictable boyfriend he is, didn't mind one bit.  Uhg, I felt like a ho, but I'll try to not let this disgust with myself taint the rest of my report.  I went downstairs again to say goodbye to Yukito and Bardiel.  Yukito, good luck at Dalhousie.I'll see you Thanksgiving, 'k?  Bardiel, I'm sure you're going to have a great time in Chicago and I hope you enjoy the rest of your time here in T.O. once you get back from N.S.  The rest of SMA showed up late, as usual.  Oh yes, I also ran into Kisa, though Louise was harder to find.  Kisa received the requisite glomp and was off and away in her Kamui costume, which I never got a pic of, thanks to my failure to secure a digital camera.

I spent a large part of the day waffling over whether or not to get an autograph from the Rayment twins (the albino ghosts from The Matrix: Reloaded), since I found that it cost $30 to purchase one autograph each from them.  Karen and I were wandering around the dealer room and discovered a very nice picture of them from the premiere in which they were dressed in matching white suits..and she and I were both reduced to fangirl mode.  It was sad, really, but I think Karen put it quite well when she asked why they had to be so damn hot in real life.  I ended up not seeing them at all that day, though I did catch a glimpse of David Prowse (Darth Vader) and Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar).I would later see Connor Trineer ("Trip").

Some of my time was spent downstairs with the other SMA members and a good deal of it was spent at the table, where Brian instructed me to encourage customer spending by dealing out free fanservice.  I don't think so, buddy.  =P  I talked to the HoroHoro and Ren cosplayers from AN, who actually recognised my costume!  They were the only ones during that day, I think, though someone came up to me on Saturday and commented on it.  I still dont know the names of these two girls and I'd very much like to talk to them, as they also recognised my Embla costume and expressed an interest in cosplaying WoG and RO.  I also think they know Kisa, which would aid in my continuing stalking.

I honestly can't remember what else happened on Friday as I failed to see anything I wanted to see or do anything I wanted to do.  By the end of it, I was pretty bummed and disappointed with myself, but I realised upon reflection that the only reason I failed to do anything was because I couldn't see my watch (it was under my blacksmith gloves) and I didn't really have any wish to leave the dealer table.  This was especially true after Brian changed into his unfinished male blacksmith costume.  It was fun drawing the tattoos on him, but I wish my pen hadn't diedit would have looked so lovely.  Boys are such wimps when it comes to anything damaging their skin.Brian had issues with the removal of the carpet tape I used to keep his shirt in just the right position of open-ness.  ^_^;  Sorry, dear, but it's the truth.

By the time the day was over, I was very glad I'd eaten a little bit before the con, as I hadn't taken time to eat anything during the day.  After the con finished, SMA, WUSS and the rest of the usual suspects headed to East Side Mario's to celebrate the birthdays of Reiciel and Mia-P.  Brian showed his truly evil side when he orchestrated (oh, and you'd really have to hear the full story to appreciate the sinister yet clever nature of this) not only the usual raucous restaurant birthday song, but also two rounds of shots and a birthday desert for the girls.  I think Reiciel wanted to smite him.  ^_^;;;  The Evil knows no bounds.

After that, we were all pretty tired, so we discussed rides and parted ways.  Turns out Walter and a couple of the SMA people live in almost exactly the same area.  Weird coincidence.   I stayed up very late beading and working on other parts of my LeBlanc costume that had not been already completed before heading to sleep around six thirty.
