Chapter 1
* I know I dont use the real names for the family of the members of five, so blame mebut I dont care!
What do you mean? Ive been adopted?!?
Carol looked full of unbelief to the people of who she once believed that they were her parents.
Honeyplease calm down, we wanted to tell you earlier but we never had the change for it
Carol looked to her mother and thought that it was ironic to see her mother in tears because of her. She suddenly felt like her life was pointless and always had been. She had been living in a lie for almost 20 years.
You wanted to tell me earlier? Yeah sure, you never would have told me if I hadnt found out by myself
Thats not true! We were just afraid that you wouldnt love us anymore when you found out
You were right by that, I do
Carol stormed of to her bedroom and fell down on her bed. She continued crying and she felt suddenly so alone. She had the feeling that no one had ever loved her and that she only was a burden to others. She wondered if everybody around her knew that she was adopted and she felt only more depressive by the thought of that. She was sure that everyone was laughing at her back about her. She was the only one who didnt know, but it was so obvious that Bob and Kate werent her real parents. They were the exact opposite of her, not only with looks, but with the way of acting also. They were quiet people, accepting the way of life and living it peacefully, without making a big deal of it. Carol was always busy, with lots of things to do and everybody knew her as someone who always knew what to say and lots of confidence.
She couldnt believe that she hadnt noticed! She was such a dork!
With that last thought on her mind Carol drifted of to sleep.
The next morning.
Carol looked in the mirror and couldnt believe what a mess she was. Her eyes were red from crying, her make-up was everywhere except for the places where it should be and her hair was jumpy.
She felt a bit better then yesterday evening and knew she hadnt act honest to Bob and Kate. Although they werent her real parents she shared whole her life with them and it wasnt honest to say to them that she didnt loved them anymore. It wasnt right of them for not telling her earlier that she was adopted, but that didnt make it fair for her to say nasty things.
She knew that she had to face them once so she walked downstairs. She saw them sitting on the kitchen table and they looked more worried then she had ever see them looking.
Im sorry
They looked surprised and their eyes looked a little bit less painful.
I shouldnt have said that I dont love you anymore, its the lowest thing I ever said and its so not trueI love you both more then anyone else in this world, but that doesnt make it right for you that you didnt told me Im adopted
They looked really guilty and Carol almost forgave them.
Were really sorry that we didnt told you earlier and we understand it when you want to visit your biologic parents
Carol stared speechless to them, she hadnt even thought about visiting her parents, but she knew that she wanted to get to know them.
What can you tell me about them?
Youre parents name are Claire and Jasper and you have one brother. Hes a couple years older then you and his name is Scott
I have a brother?? Why did they kept him and gave me away for adoption? Why did they gave me away for adoption anyway?
Bob and me really did want to have a child, but we couldnt get one by ourselves. Claire and Jasper were old friends of us and they offered to give their child away for money, they were really poor at that moment. When you were born they wanted to keep you and we did get in a fight about it. We even had to get to court to get you and after that we broke contact with them, we were angry at them for breaking the contract, at that moment we couldnt understand that they wanted to keep you, but now we can
Carol stared in front of her and didnt know what to think about it.
So you dont have contact with them anymore? How do you know then if they want to meet them?
We only kept in contact with them about you, every couple months we send pictures of you with a letter about the things you do and Im sure they want to meet you, they asked every time if they could meet you, but we blow them off every time
And Scott? Does he know about me?
Nothey didnt want to hurt him and they would hurt him if they told him about a sister he would never meetlook Carol, here you have their phone number, call them whenever you think that youre ready
Carol stared to the paper in front of her and didnt notice Kate en Bob walking away. She read the phone number over and over again and was thinking about what to say to them. Carol knew that she had to call them and dialed the number.
