Nas- Stillmatic: Nas is back with his fifth solo album and with this one he has alot to prove. Can he still rock the mic, can he respond to Jay Z's disses, can he shake the haters and create another masterpiece? Well read our 1 page review of Stillmatic and see for yourself.

1.  Stillmatic (The Intro)- Produced by Hangmen 3, you know right away that this album is going to be different. This is definitely Nasty Nas in all his glory as he rocks this beat till the wheels fall off. Nice intro to the album.

2.  Ether- Ron Browz produced this banger as this is the reply to Jay Z's "The Takeover". Nas really gets into Jay's ass on this one. He brings up the fact that Jay is always bringing up Biggie in his rhymes. He also brings up that Jay looks like Joe Camel, Eminem out rapped him on his own album, and his style is copied from Jaz. Nice 2pac sample at the beginning.

3.  Got Ur Self A...- This song really affirms to me that Nas is back. Megahertz is behind the boards on this one and Nas just is claiming his right to the throne of the East Coast. I am starting to believe that maybe Nas did squash his beef with 2pac before he died, because he gives Pac nothing but the upmost respect. He calls himself, Big and Pac the best of all time and he re-enacts Big's and Pac's murder on this video. Very tight song.

4.  Smokin' - Nas produces this song about the ganja. Nothing spectacular here, but a solid track nonetheless.

5.  You're Da Man- Large Professer (were has he been?) is on the beat and Nas destroys this track. You can really hear the newfound hunger Nas has in his voice.

6.  Rewind- Large Professer creates another banger as the always innovative Nas spits a story BACKWARDS! Amazing track that will speak for itself when you listen to it.

7.  One Mic- Nas & Chucky Thompson produce this somber track about his undying love to rock the mic. He spits with such anger and emotion that you feel like you are right there. Awsome material.

8.  2nd Childhood- You cannot have a Nas album without a least 1 DJ Premier track and there it is. Nice mellow track as Nas just talks about his life. My personal fav on the album.

9.  Destroy & Rebuild- I don't know where Nas got this vicious style for dissing but it sure is nasty. He gets alot off of his chest on this one as Cormega, Prodigy and Nature get it real bad. He even spits the whole song sounding like Slick Rick!

10.  Flyest, The - (featuring AZ)- Nas and AZ FINALLY get back together to record this L.E.S. banger. Both are rapping about their status as the flyest gangsters in the game. These 2 have a amazing chemistry and it shows here.

11.  Braveheart Party - (featuring Mary J. Blige)- Nas' group, The Bravehearts, join him on this Swizz Beats track. It has a raegee type of beat and all members kick the ruff rhymes. (Especially Nashawn and Jungle)

12.  Rule - (featuring Amerie)- This song samples the beat from "Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears For Fears. As bad as "Nastradamus" was, I liked the fact that Nas went back to his political raps. He does that here as he talks about the state of the world and the events of 9/11. This would be an ideal 2nd single and I think that Nas could find worldwide success with this song. VERY POWERFUL!

13.  My Country- Nas blesses us with another political track about the state of living in the USA. Nashawn also is on this track and he spits some nice lyrics as well..

14.  What Goes Around- Man, 3 political tracks in a row! Nas is talking about the poisons of the world that is killing us. DEEP, INTELLECTUAL TRACK!

15.  Every Ghetto - (bonus track)- Nas ends this album with another banger. Tight beat, tight lyrics, just a great way to end a great album.

When Nas comes with rhymes like this, he is an untouchable MC with amazing lyrical skills. I never thought that Nas was a wack rapper, I just never understood why we found the need to be so intrigued with the mafia lifestyle. He is more of a political street poet and he got back to that style on this album.
Definitely the album of the year for 2001 and a "classic" in my book.
