'Illalangi'
2nd/6th Mordialloc Scout Group Campsite
Illalangi, an Aboriginal word for 'hut on the hill' has been owned by the 2nd/6th Mordialloc Scout Group (in Mentone, Victoria) for over 50 years. It is a campsite 6kms from Launching Place, in the Yarra Ranges Shire, Victoria.
Many groups have used the site over the years for camps and environmental service activities. The Sir Dallas Brooks Rover Crew in Seaford managed the site from 2002 for two years. Some environmental work was done around the site, and the toillets were repainted.
Unfortunately, the hut was destroyed by vandals a few years ago, so much work is needed so that it can be openned up for all
scouts to use once more.

The campsite is set in damp forest. Many plants not indigenous to the area have invaded the site over time. Over the last few years, efforts have been made to remove and control these species (blackberries, climbing ivy etc).
There is a hut, eating shelter and toilet block on-site, and in the near future water taps near each site and showers will be rebuilt. Another toilet block is also in planning.
