Athina Schina - English

From Igor Bogojević’s work, which feeds on horses motifs, shines a conflicting character in the strife of forms with an expressionist breath. These forms deconstruct, contract and interweave themselves, presenting a reconstituted fermentation of tensions, which is absorbed and thus emerges from the space, which appears vibrant or circularly creational, like a vortex.

With violence and choler one unveils fields of horse bodies, along with skeletons that demonstrate a type of conflict and concurrent excitement of the characters that plastically compose the volatility of the ultimately abstract shape, which delivers, both in colors and in drawings, volumes and writings as a merging of a most universal transformation.

The heroic and the epic elements which characterize the rebellious and proud horses’ expression are identified with the tragedy within the slaughter of a sacrifice and of a holocaust, which opens the way for his light and his darkness to indicate the allegory of that conflict and dimension of its reformation.

Prof. Patraskidis - English

A swarming of lives – the impetuousness of horses, with their hoofs to the air and nostrils erected, is brought to life in Igor Bogojević’s exceptional drawings.

Bogojević makes use of the ink’s density and of his tracing with a particularly synthetical, agglutinative concern. He evinces an amalgamation of lives in moments where instinct gives room to the intrincacy of motion, and of vigour in forms displayed; it also opens up space to the faultless integrality of the horses and to the conflict revealed in their delinearment – an attribute that have inspired many artists from time to time .

Igor Bogojević successfully interprets place, color and plasticity, fragments, speed, the deterrence brought by the wielding of inks. The pleasant shades of grey help construct the particular , peculiar atmosphere which seems to entice the artist.

The coherence in the course of evolution of his work shall let anyone perceive its natural consistency and incontestable quality.

A Gray Reflection
by Vanja Savić

Igor Bogojević, a postgraduate student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens, showed his talent to the world at a solo exhibition that was located in the hall of the Serbian and Montenegrin Embassy in Greece during the 2004 Olympic Games.

At the fifth exhibition in his career, eight of Igor Bogojević's big canvases were displayed in the hall of the Serbian and Montenegrin Embassy at Athens. He could be described as an expressionist painter, whose indisputable drawing sensibility is skillfully combined with solid deposits of colour. According to the artist himself, he takes such an approach to the medium because "the phenomenon and dynamics of movement can be best expressed in this way."

"By painting I want to subconsciously impose an expression of the current and rooted conditions in myself and to emphasise the difference between instinct and reaction. Therefore, my paintings are based on the motifs of a horse ready to transfer into the image of a human - with a sparkling tear in the human eye", Igor explained during his final exam in the class of professor Dragan Karadžića at the Faculty of Fine Arts in the Montenegrin town Cetinje in October 2002.

The freedom of movement in the paintins of the young academic painter is an expression of his emotional condition and instinctive struggle against the pestilence of the modern world. It is as if he wants to break off with tradition. Treating one of the oldest art motifs in pastel hues without much contrast, his oil paintings almost crystallize a new vision of time gone by and a search for its proper place in the time to come. By his virtuous application of the colour gray, Igor successfully interprets space, plastics, fragments and the deterrent power of life at moments when instinct takes control.

At last year's world competition Bogojević was awared a scholarship by the Greek government. He is currently a postgraduate student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens, where he studies under professor Triandafilos Patraskidis.

Refleksija u Sivom
by Vanja Savić
