The place were we live..

Working with television.
This Year I decided to work with the mass media I am not fond of : the television.
I knew all my kids watch TV a lot but I was sure they were not used to the news and I thought it was a good idea to make them watch it once a week and provide the most important event happenedin our country or world.
It was then when the Icebreaker Irizar news appeared…
Since The Irizar started his voyage towards the Antarcticin order to help “Magdalena Oldendorff” ship, my students from 7th A-B have been watching the news on TV and reading the papers. They had fun talking and learning every Tuesday about what they had watched or read.
And the following is a summary of their AMAZING research…
CONGRATULATION KIDS!

W: (taking a gun from her jacket) Very clever dear detective, but you won’t be alive to tell it!
D: No!
W: (after killing him) Ha, ha, I’m so good for it!

Books...Taboo word?
Personally, our opinion of the book is excellent. We enjoyed the experience a lot.
The fact is nowadays Young people don’t pay attention to books and literature, perhaps because they don’t have time to do it, they dislike it, or they just don’t care. That’s why literature has to thanks authors like J. K. Rowling. She has made a very strong contribution in the making of such a wonderful story. She has awoken the interest of reading in children and adolescents. Without going any further we enjoyed the experience of getting into such a wonderful world. At the beginning, it may it may look like a silly books for children, but once you have read a little Rowling´s good writing is enough to catch more than your attention. The book has everything from adventure, thrill and fear to love and friendship.
For simple reading is a very good book, but with a good analysis it is a fantastic one. Rowling, apart from taking things and objets from mythology that you can find in authors such as Tolkien or Lewis, she has put an extra emphasis on the text with the add of metaphors and secrets in each and every part of the book.
We recommend this book and the following ones everybody who wants to find an excellent way of entertainment.
Keep reading them, as we do, while we are looking forward to the next one!

Harry Potter / Ex-students.
Two years ago, during the summer, an Amazing book came home…
“HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER’S STONE”.
After reading it, I decided to make my students in Polimodal II read and analyse it. I must
tell you it was a difficult task, not only for them but also for me… And this year I was
interested in my ex-students’ opinion about this book that could catch my attention from
the very beginning…
Therefore, I called up some of them and asked if they wanted to write their opinion about
the work done in class. So, this is what they think!
THANKS A LOT!!!

The Hobbit.
Pre F.C.E. students have been reading “The Hobbit”, written by J.R.R. Tolkien, a complete and marvelous tale in itself.
The Hobbit is a tale of high adventure, undertaken by a company of dwalves, in search of
Dragon-Guarded gold. A reluctant partner in this dangerous quest is Bilbo Baggins, a comfort –loving, unambitious hobbit, who surprises over himself by his skill as a burglar.
While reading, my students noticed the amazing descriptions you find in this tale.
Therefore the teacher suggested the drawing of one of the most important characters in this book:
GANDALF, The Wizard...
And there you can see some of the drawings they produced, taking into a account what the character looks like according to Tolkien...

And You?... What do you say?...
(Conversation heard in the classroom one day)
Flor_ What do you think about the situation in our country?
Tone_ Oh, ... I think it´s really terrible.
Flor_ Why do you think so?
Tone_ Because in my opinion the politics do not do anything for the country to be better off.
Flor_ I think so to. But what do you think we can do to change this?
Tone_ A lot of things will have to change .There´s a number of problems like lack of jobs, kidnapping and murder, hunger, homeless people, lack of education, emigration, dishonest not reliable politics... but the most important of them all is “Corruption.”
Flor_ What I think is that argentine people are also to blame for these problems.
Tone_ Why?
Flor_ Because instead of doing something to make things better, they make them worst... like robbing, kidnapping innocent children, going on strikes and making “piquetes”, not paying taxes, not studying, not respecting the law, not respecting other peoples rights.
Tone: What can people of our age do to help?
Flor_ We can help by studying, being responsible and honest, and by caring about the poor and the old people. Some of them have nothing to eat, or nowhere to live. They need us a lot.
NOW IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN THIS TOPIC, YOU CAN TELL US YOUR OPINION BY MAIL OR E-MAIL ([email protected]) ...
What can people of our age do to help solve the problem we have?
Write to us ! We are very interested in knowing what you think!

Laura Brown.
It was a beautiful day, so Laura Brown decided to go for a walk in the countryside.
She spent the afternoon reading by the side of a river. Later, while she was packing up her rucksack, a thunderstorm started.
As she was running along a path, she fell over some rocks and broke her ankle. So she dialed 999for help. When Laura saw the helicopter flying over her, she waved.
The helicopter landed near the path, the doctors put her on a stretcher and took her to hospital.

Songs and fun.

I eat a sandwich to our love
In love our apples are some pears
But all in all we soon be fatter
That one at one is all we long to eat
All round the plate
Little children start to eat all the plate
Got to give them all we ate till the food is gone
Then we would eat the cake
Help me to stop (me to stop)
´Cause I can’t stop eating cake, baby, cake
Let us show them how to cook
A hamburger (hamburger)
Help me to stop ´Cause I can´t stop eating cake, baby, cake.
Won´t you show me how to cook
A hamburger (hamburger)
Cook a hamburger
What do you eat? (do you eat)
Will the hamburger be run in a day? (in a day)
Or will someone save Mc Donald’s, that is great?
Is it the only one? what are we going to eat?
Help us to choose (us to choose)
I think some chips are going to be fine.
Let us eat them till the end the hamburger (hamburger)
the hamburger.

We have been working with different songs, and one of the activities we liked best, was to change the lyrics. We want to share with you one of them. The original song is Pipes of Peace, by Paul McCartney. We hope you enjoy this like we did while working in the classroom.

Una cup of café..

y luego pasarla a inglés .

Y yo me pregunto, amor

A cup of coffee...
Only a cup of coffee
I have since you left me
You went away, my happiness flew away
Just a handful of old fantasies remain

Despite my broken heart
I seek thousand ways
It´s difficult not to find
it´s a never ending pain

And so I wonder, love
Has this all been a lie?
Only a cup of coffee
I have by my side.

Win or loose...

This year we watched the first Football World Cup held in Asia: Korea- Japan 2002. It was very interesting to work with names of countries and cities we did not know they exist. We followed the development by the news and we made our particular competition at school: The World Cup Forecast. The following is a simple analysis of the most important views and feelings
we experienced through this world wide event...

The best forecast...
Was made by Nicolás Lamelza, 9th F, who predicted Brazil was going to win before the competition had even started.
The worst forecast...
Was given by most of our pupils, nearly 99%, who predicted Argentina would be the winner.
Everybody felt...
Very sad with the result. All the pupils thought the team gave the best of them; they believed they were unlucky.
Our favorite add on TV...
Was the one in which Maradona played a “ring-raje”. It was chosen by 90% of our pupils when they were asked to analyze and describe the add they liked best..
