Call it bad luck, bad refereeing, lack of optimism, chain-reactionism or, more likely, a bubbling broth of all of the above. A taboo subject - were the players themselves victims or perpetrators? In short, more victims, but not entirely innocent. Thus, let us become wiser by investigation. I.E.A F.C members have always prided themselves on their integrity. Now, lets take a more critical insight as to what eventuated in the post-mortem of the season that promised so much, but continually disappointed.
Venkataraman, Prasanna and Rangarajan, Shrikkanth: handy but ultimately unrealistic members of the squad due to their wish to go onto bigger and better things - a Med/Law/Surgery degree from Monash University. However, desire to relive past glory may rouse the true IEA from within the depths. And if the chalice of victory once again touches the sweet lips of the players - expect to see these boys invited into the celebrations. Who can forget raj's clinical slide tackles and mikey's less-than-discrete communication.
Voskoboinik, Alex and Gutman, Matthew: semi-retirees due to toe and back injury/inappropriate footwear respectively, but have vowed to boost team morale with pehaps an inspirational comeback this season. In his spare time, alex enjoys trout fishing and door-knocking for charity groups, while Matthew enjoys planning out which piece of acclaimed "Roy" clothing he will wear out and, indeed, whether to exit his fortress.
Damon, Jackson: Due to an unfortunate start, which was not his fault, has become discouraged from the game - but may be invited back to regain his passion some day -if the plank of wood and smaller, harder ball allows. Made some good saves - penalties were a highlight
Repse, Stephan: Still on the playing list, but under probation due to softness and lack of fire, pending review from the match comittee.
Loh, Ian: Has completed a loan move to a rival side - rumoured to be in fact a 'Mannix college' composite side. Expect fireworks and passion in the big derby clash
