| Ethics Authors Needed ADA is looking for Ethics Authors The ADA Ethics Committee is planning to develop an "ethics opinion" related to the ADA/CDR Code of Ethics during the 2001-02 program year. An "ethics opinion" reflects the interpretation or application of the ADA/CDR Code of Ethics for the Profession of Dietetics by the Ethics Committee in response to a specific ethics issue or situation facing dietetics professionals in practice. An "ethics opinion" serves as an educational guide for members and credentialed practitioners. The topic of the "ethics opinion" will focus on Principle #4 "The dietetics practitioner assumes responsibility and accountability for personal competence in practice, continually striving to increase professional knowledge and skills and to apply them in practice." The Ethics Committee would like members to submit names of potential authors for development of the "ethics opinion", as well as, comments and references related to this issue. This information will be used by the Ethics Committee to identify an author and to provide direction on development of the "ethics opinion". Please submit your suggestions to Harold Holler ([email protected]) at ADA Headquarters by Monday, July 23, 2001. |

| Possible Payment Options for ADA members To better serve members, discussion has begun to consider various payment options for ADA members. Your input is very important to the design of these potential offers. Please consider the following questions and send me your input before July 10th. Thank you! 1. Do you find the following options of value to you? 2. Are the options easy to understand? 3. What questions do you have regarding these options? After refinement from your input, these options will be presented to the ADA Board of Directors at their September meeting. Depending upon headquarters resources, these options could be available to the ADA membership in the 2002-2003 membership year. The two options that could be offered include: *Yearly Dues Extended Payment Plan ADA's yearly dues amount would be broken down into 3 installments. A handling fee of $10 for the service would be included with each installment payment. ADA would require a credit card number and authorization to automatically charge the 2nd and 3rd installments. The installment schedule would be as follows: 1st Payment due on May 31st (may be paid with check or credit card) 2nd Payment due on September 30th (automatic credit card payment) 3rd and final payment due on January 31st (automatic credit card payment) One of the questions that remain to be answered is when does the membership end if the 2nd and 3rd dues installments are not paid. *Life Payment Option Benefits to the member include convenience, dues are held flat and the member never pays another dues increase, monetary savings of up to 63.5%, and it confers a special status on individuals who wish to demonstrate long-term loyalty. Benefits to the Association include improved member retention, dues revenue stability, guaranteed revenue stream from accrual fund, and decreased marketing and dues invoicing expense. The following table reflects the payment breakdown by age range, showing the Life dues amount and the percentage of savings a member would receive by opting to participate in this program. ADA would review the breakdown on a yearly basis, revising the Life dues payment amounts based upon the current dues assessment and the performance of the accrual fund in which these lifetime dues are invested. Age Amount Percentage 22-25 $2,500.00 63.5% 51-55 $1,500 37% 26-30 $2,400.00 61.0% 56-60 $1,100 32% 31-35 $2,300.00 57.0% 61-65 $ 700 28% 36-40 $2,200.00 53.0% 66-70 $ 450 19% 41-45 $2,000.00 48.0% 71 and older, Not Offered 46-50 $1,800.00 43.0% For ease of payment, ADA would extend to the member two options for the payment of the Life dues: Option 1: Pay the total Life dues amount in one installment via credit card or check. Option 2: Pay 50% of the Life dues amount by May 31st (via check or credit card) with a $75 processing fee, and provide ADA with a credit card that could be automatically charged with the remaining 50% of Life dues amount by the following May 31st. |
