It takes one full year to gain your letters, the process is called "The Tri-Clone"
The "Tri-Clone" is a 3 step process you must go through to earn every letter ( Chi Phi Sigma).The steps are called The Breeze, the Wind and the Cyclone.
There also other letters you can gain by completing diffrent tasks.

N.A.S.T.Y. is for the elite saxes.There are only three of the nine current members in this group. These members do many things, which are G-14 classified, so I can't tell you what they are.The colors are Red and Silver.
A.L.T.O.S is a very musical group that allows the saxes to get together and do diffrent things like create fanfares, play music for diffrent events and practice things that the section would'nt play if they life depended on it, LOL. The colors are Blue and Silver.
