Juniper Peak , Approximately a 4.8 mile round trip hike.  The trailhead starts at the Pine Creek Trail within the Red Rock Scenic Loop.  Travel less than a mile to a remains of two concrete foundations.  A trail will head south across the stream along the foothill.  At the top of the foothill you will head westward into the canyon to follow the trail that breaks into a dry stream bed.  The trail is pretty well marked as you leave the wooded area in the bottom of the canyon.  Travel northwest ward up the boulder field to reach the barren sandstone slope.  Cairns mark the way all the way up the slope. This steep sandstone slope leads into a terrain that retains soil, boulders and vegetation.  Following the trail and cairns through the low lying brush that leads you to a chute with ponderosa pines.  Travel up to the top of the  chute and turn left.  The trail will eventually direct you to a large boulder that has a
large opening at the bottom.  Travel under this boulder and pull yourself up to continue your short climb to the top.  Once on the top you can take you time to enjoy the beautiful view of the  surrounding peak of Rainbow that is south of your position.  A summit log is availble to share your hiking thoughts.  April is a good time to visit this peak. This hike is definitely easier to traverse than Wilson Peak.  Less bouldering and less brush to fight your way through.  Our visit to this spot was blessed with the viewing of  a small herd of big horn sheep.  They are very timid creatures, I hope we didn't frighten them too much.
