ISA ROUNDTABLE MANIFESTO

By Ademola Olugebefola

We, as artists of ISA, stand at the epicenter of what we know as an undeniable truth -- that the global human family has an inherent deep quest for peace and harmony. As creative representatives of the broad spectrum of human endeavor, we pledge our efforts to continue what we as artists have been doing for centuries. But we are now endowed with new zeal and even deeper conviction that our work has the power to open portals of new dimensions in human consciousness. The alchemy of colour, form, movement and mystery inherent in art fertilizes the seed of imagination that resides in all humanity. As we advance and expand our vital humanitarian mission, we take pride in joining the United Nations' initiative “International Artists for World Harmony” launched by the New York Metropolitan Martin Luther King Center for Nonviolence with support of The World Council of Peoples for the United Nations.

Let us perpetuate cooperative communication among us – producing important international theme exhibitions, sponsoring educational forums and programs, creating and distributing new age publications, and inventing far reaching, new visual languages that employ universal movement, sound and symbology. We, both collectively and as individual artists, must simultaneously initiate economic enhancement projects as we will encourage the human spirit to reach new heights.

In this new paradigm of the twenty-first century, humanity’s quest for peace, tolerance, love and harmony is treading exciting new paths. We take pride that our collective work has contributed significantly to the creative footprint of this era. Among the vast galaxies of our wondrous universe, and within the scientific context of three-dimensional reality, artists are vibrant creative living organisms that occupy a unique and vital place in the membranes of civil society. Thus, we as the International Society of Artists clearly recognize the precious gift we possess: the ability to affect physical space and consciousness through our expressions in sculpture, painting, installations, interior treatments, space design, literature, poetry, dance, cinema and music. We join our hands and hearts with Society of Caribbean Artists and other men, women and civic organizations throughout the world who are also dedicated to the use of creative energy towards the upliftment of humanity from the bowels of hate, intolerance and violence.

We strive towards a New World Order dedicated to global harmony and progress. Through our work as a united creative force, we hereby make a commitment to discover and provide our indigenous and global communities with those universal visual, audio and movement equations that enhance our central commonalities as human beings. We as creators illuminate and celebrate life’s joys as well as its challenges.

ISA, in all its diversity, celebrates our oneness.

ISA, in its noble mission, speaks to the light within us all.

ISA, in its lofty goals, reaches to illuminate the world.
