Chapter 6

Needless to say, I woke up the next morning groggy with almost no sleep. I laid in bed last night trying to figure out how I was going to react when I saw Brian at the wedding.

I showered, put on my make-up, fixed my hair, and got dressed. It was almost 10:30 and since the church was almost an hour away, I left home in case there might be some traffic.

I arrived at the church around 11:30 and quickly found out that Jessica had not arrived yet, so I decided to walk around and see Kent was there. Not seeing Brian was almost a relief. I saw Brandon standing in the entry way talking to a blonde lady. He noticed me and motioned me to come over.

He gave me a hug. Hi Lynn. Have you seen Jessica yet?

No, from what I can tell, she hasnt even gotten here yet. The look of concern on his face made me laugh. Dont worry, theres still almost another three hours before the wedding.

I know, butwell, I dont know. He looked down at the floor and then quickly looked back up at me. Lynn, Id like you to meet my mom, Leighanne. Mom, this is Jessicas mom, Lynn.

Oh my God! This is Leighanne? Hi Leighanne, its nice to meet you.

Brandon noticed one of his groomsmen come in and left us there to talk. Leighanne started telling me about the movie she was shooting in LA. I tried to keep my mind on what she was saying, but all I could do was think about the difference in her. She was still gorgeous as ever, but her face was aged and she had gained a few pounds. I had met her mother once during my Backstreet Boys obsession days and I had to admit that she looked just like her.

the wedding and I had to cancel the taping for today and let me tell you that they were not too happy about that. They kept saying

Just then Melanie, Jessicas Maid of Honor, ran up to me. Lynn, wheres Brandon?

I dont know. He left a few minutes ago with one of his friends. Why? Is Jessica here?

Yes, she just wants to make sure that he doesnt see her.

Makes sense. He went this direction, so Ill go over there and make sure he doesnt come back for the next couple minutes. Tell her to hurry though. Ill meet you guys in the changing room in a few.

Okay. She hurriedly ran back outside and to the car that was parked close to the doors.

I looked back over at Leighanne. Im sorrymy brides mother duty calls.

Thats fine. Ill talk to you later at the reception, okay?

Sure. I smiled at her and turned to walk away. Why would I want to talk to her during the reception? And it wasnt as if I did any talking in the talk we just had. Geez! The things I do for my daughter.

I walked around the corner and bumped into someone. Looking up, I realized who it wasBrian. He was standing there talking with Brandon. I guess I looked as though I was about to faint because he grabbed me around my waist and asked me if I was okay.

I looked at him in complete shock that he was touching me and then quickly looked at my feet. Umyeah, Im fine. IumI came toummake sure that Brandon wouldntumwalk back into the entry way because Jessica is coming in. Okay, could I have made more of a fool of myself?

Shes here? Oh God, shes here. I could hear the panic in Brandons voice, but I was still looking down at my feet so I wasnt able to see his face.

Lynn, are you sure that youre okay? Brian asked sounding concerned. I finally got the nerve to look back up at Brian to answer him, but as I looked into his eyes, I froze.

Brandon, Im going to take Lynn down to the kitchen to get her something to drink. Are you going to be okay?

Yeah dad, Ill be fine.
