Chapter 7

Brian led me downstairs into the kitchen and sat me down at a table. He then got into the refrigerator and pulled out a couple bottled waters. He handed me one and snickered as he sat down across from me.

What? I still could not look at him, so I started playing with the bottle.

Well, you remember yesterday when you were asking me if you knew me from somewhere?

Yes. Still looking at the bottle.

Have you figured it out yet?

Figured wha? I looked up at him not realizing what he was asking me. Oh. Yeah. Looked back down at the bottle.

He looked at me questionably and raised his eyebrows. So?

So what? Still seeing only the bottle.

So by your reaction today, I guess you were a fan, huh?

I couldnt help but to laugh at his comment. Finally, I was able to look up and face the man that I had so many dreams about meeting. To say the least. I was completely obsessed for quite some time.

Really? How old were you?

Umwell, it was just after my 27th birthday. I could tell that my age shocked him. I know, I know. I wasnt the average obsessed Backstreet Boys fan. It was right after Kent, my ex-husband, got a job a few hours away and he would just come home every weekend. My love of BSB really helped me pass the time. Eventually, the love grew into an obsession. After the house was sold and we lived together again, Mark was born, then Jessica, and right after that, you guys broke up. For a while, I tried to keep up with what all five of you were doing, but as time went by, I looked less and less.

Oh, he said raising his eyebrows. You were one of our mature fans.

Well, I wouldnt say that my actions at that time were mature, but if you want to go by my age, then yes.

He laughed the same laugh that I remembered from 25 years back. What actions would those be?

I let out a small snicker and looked up at him. Trust me, there are too many to tell you right now. Lets just say that my friends and family all wanted to commit me. I was nuts.

Just then the door opened and Melanie flew in. There you are! Jessica is freaking. You have to calm her down.

What is she freaking about? I said getting up from the table.

Anything and everything. I think the latest is that she thinks her ankles are too fat for her shoes.

Okay, Ill be there in a minute. I turned back and looked at Brian. Im sorry about this. Maybe we could talk a little during the reception.

Yeah, Id like that. He said as I was getting ready to walk out the door. Oh, and Lynn?

I stuck my head back through the doorway. Yes?

Save me a dance?

You bet.
