Chapter 3
I was in the back yard feeding the dogs when I heard Jessicas voice yelling for me.
Mom? Mom!
Knowing that I wasnt expecting her today and hearing the sound of her panicked voiced scared me. I came running in the house
straight to her. What is it? Whats wrong?
He asked me! Brandon asked me to marry him! She held out her left hand and started jumping up and down. I reached out and gave
her a huge hug.
Oh my God! Congratulations! I pulled away and was dreading what I was going to say next, but the mom in me couldnt hold back.
Honey, are you sure? You two havent even been dating for a year now.
Her excitement dwindled for a bit as she looked at me. Yes, I am so sure! I love him so much that I cant even think straight.
Well then, I am so happy for you! Have you set a date yet? Have you told your father?
No, I havent told dad yet. I wanted you to be the first to know. We want to get married sometime next spring, but havent set a
date yet. And since thats only a few months away, I need you to help me start planningNOW!
I smiled enjoying her excitement and remembering how exciting it was when Kent and I planned our wedding so many years ago. Do
you have any bridal magazines yet?
She looked at me with a blank stare. Uhhhno.
Okay then. You call your father and give him the good news and Ill go out and buy a few. Ill be right back. I grabbed my purse
and keys and headed out the door.
When I got back, Jessica and I went through the bridal magazines talking about her dress, tuxedos, flowers, catering, decorations, and
anything else we could think of.
