Previous: Sender Based Error Control
The traditional waveform encoders were designed to maximise compression
efficiency. However, eliminating all the statistical and subjective redundancy
of the video sequences makes error concealment at the decoder very difficult and
the bitstream more sensitive to information loss. Error-resilient waveform
encoders apply
single-channel and multiple-channel techniques, which are presented in the
following paragraphs.
