| A Word from the Don | |||||||
| Saluti, la mia famiglia. Allow me to say how pleased I am to see you all in this fair city. I wish you all a wonderful and profitable stay. However, though it is a burden to my heart to think of such things, I must remind you there is a degree of conduct excpected from all who reside here. Of course, this is nothing new to the Family. However, we must consider our guests from the Camarilla and Sabbat, and others as well. Therefore, allow me to present the fine points of my rule in terms our guests may understand more easily. * As Don, I maintain the right to put to Final Death any who brings harm, in deed or threat of deed, to this city or the Family's interests. All, regardless of Family, Clan, or Sect, are bound by this. In addition, I do extend this right to the Capodecima de Famiglia (Head of a Family, or Capo), who's authority extends only to those of their own Family. I will expect to hear justifications for any such brutish actions, and I prefer to hear about it in advance, for I also hold the right to overrule any such decision. Finally, each Padre (or Sire) has this right over his Bambino (childe). This may be overruled by the Capo, or by myself. * No one may create Bambini without my approval. Also, no one has the right to create a ghoul without the Capo's permission (or mine, in the case of Capos.) If the ghoul is not of one of the traditional Servant Families, then both I and the Capo must approve. After all, integrity of the Family must be maintained, no? * I am told that, in the Camarilla, the act known as Diablerie is a crime punishable by death. Odd custom. The Giovanni do not abolish such things, though they are handled in a more business-like manner. However, any who commit this deed will explain their reasons to me, and they may be assesed a penalty depending on the circumstances. Such penalties may include a payment of damages to the Padre or to the Family, banishment, censoring, or (rarely) Final Death. Of course, for those not of the Giovanni, your own laws will apply. For myself, I will say this ; any of the Family who has the strength, brains, and testicoli to take my blood is welcome to it. You will have earned every drop. Use it well, and keep an eye over your shoulder, cugino. * No one who kills a Don may ever become a Don. This is a tradition that reaches back even beyond the founding of the Giovanni, and is still maintained by our mortal cousins. I upheld this tradition before I became Don, and will do so after I am no longer Don, if I am able. The hand stained with the blood of a Don is the unclean hand of a goomba, and is forever unfit to rule. From time to time, I may alter, add, or remove edicts from this brief list, but I believe that common sense and common decency is a better guide than any set of laws. By and large, mine is a gentle and profitable rule. But my justice has been compared to the fires of Vesuvius ; just as rare, and just as final. * Fino al tramonto, * Marco Antonio Giovanni, Don di Huntsville |
