| This area is still under development. The information here is subject to change as we work out the bugs and gremlins. Some Clans and Bloodlines have some special considerations, especially in the nature of their Disciplines. These are listed below. If they aren't listed, they're unchanged. Brujah No True Brujah. Period. No way, no how. Ain't gonna happen. Hint, hint. Malkavian Malks have the usual Obfuscate and Auspex. They also have a choice of Dementation or Dominate. Only one of the "D" disciplines can be considered In-Clan. Also, Malks may take up to two additional Derangements at character creation. They get Freebie points from the two extras, but not the first (mandatory) derangement. Nosferatu No Nictuku. See "Brujah" above for the appropriate expletives. Tremere Telyavelic Tremere have a choice; they can take the standard Tremere disadvantage in addition to the Bloodline curse, or they can be unbonded Tremere who (if anyone finds out) may be relentlessly hunted down and either bonded or destroyed. Assamite The original Curse is still in effect for those Independent Assamites loyal to the Clan. The Antitribu in the Sabbat do not have the Curse. Antitribu in the Camarilla are under the Curse, but do not have to follow Strictures. Giovanni Bloodlines Due to the varied natures of these Bloodlines, some have non-standard In-Clan Disciplines. These alternate Disciplines are not mandatory, and Kindred from any of these Bloodlines may take the standard Giovanni Disciplines as In-Clan. Note that Pisanobs, Rosellinis, and Rothstiens have their own versions of Necromancy, and do not have alternate Disciplines. * Dunsirn - Animalism instead of Necromancy * Milliner - Presence instead of Potence * della Passaglia - Celerity instead of Potence * Koenig - Fortitude instead of Potence * Putanesca - Celerity instead of Necromancy, Fortitude instead of Dominate * Machiavelli - Presence instead of Necromancy, Auspex instead of Potence * Ghiberti - Animalism instead of Dominate (might allow Protean if you have a good argument for it.) * Romanov - Obfuscate instead of Potence * Beryn - Presence instead of Dominate * Li Weng - Kai instead of Dominate, Fortitudeinstead of Potence. Revenant Clans Still in the works. You're gonna like it. It's twisted, demented, and otherwise really cool. (New!!!) Learning Disciplines (New!!!) These decisions are based on info in Time of Thin blood and some common sense. All Disciplines are powers of the Blood. Every vampire is ultimately descended from Caine, so they all share the same Blood legacy. Therefore, all vampires have the potential to manifest all the disciplines, with some being easier that others. However, some Disciplines require additional assistance in the form of a teacher. Except in the case of Personal Disciplines, a teacher must at least have a level of Discipline equal to the one he is trying to teach. In all cases, timing is measured in episodes (games). This will usually be one episode per month, though this may be faster if there are more games per month. If there has been at least a month between episodes, the ST may rule that more than one episode has past, allowing new disciplines to be used without the wait. Physical Disciplines : Fortitude, Celerity, and Potence are all common Disciplines and the easiest to learn. You do not need a teacher to learn them, and a teacher does not make learning easier. They do not require any special justification for having them. It is simply a matter of instinctive learning combined with lots of practice. (Mechanics : Once the XP has been spent, the Discipline will be activated in the next episode.) Mental (or Psychic) Disciplines : Dominate, Auspex, Obfuscate, and Presence are relatively easy to learn and are somewhat common. They do not require justification. They do not require a teacher, although a teacher makes learning easier. (Mechanics : Once the XP has been spent, the Discipline will be activated in two episodes. Having a teacher reduces this to one episode.) Mixed-Skill Disciplines : Protean and Kai are based just as much on mental training and physical skill as they are on the Blood. They do not require a teacher, but they are difficult to learn without one. (Mechanics : Once the XP has been spent, the Discipline will become activated in three episodes. Having a teacher reduces this to one episode. All levels beyond the first can be learned in two episodes per level, or one episode per level with a teacher.) Magical Disciplines : Necromancy, Thaumaturgy, and Dark Thaumaturgy are based more on magical studies and experience than they are on the Blood, and so are rare and difficult to learn. They also require a teacher at each level of skill. Be aware that magical Disciplines often have many variant "styles". For example, Giovanni and Pisanob Necromancy are mechanically identical, but are very different in practice. Knowledge of the variant style may be necessary to perform some of the rituals the style posesses. (Mechanics : After one episode of study under a teacher, a Mental Challenge is required. If it fails, the Discipline cannot be learned without another six episodes of study. If it succeeds, XP may be spent on the first level of the discipline, which will activate in two episodes. Every level after that also requires a challenge, but the delay for failure is only one episode. Learning an alternate style requires follows the same process, but requires no XP. The student must possess at least equal level higher in his "native" style.) Unique "One-Clan" Disciplines : Serpentis, Obeah, Vicissitude, Quietus, and other disciplines associated with a specific Clan are virtually impossible to learn without a teacher. However, once the first level is learned, the later levels of these Disciplines can be learned without only moderate difficulty. Note that Kai is considered Unique until the first level is learned. (Mechanics : The process is the same as for Mental Disciplines, but a teacher is required at the first level. It takes three episodes to learn the first level, two episodes for higher levels or one episode with a teacher.) Personal Disciplines : Some Disciplines are used by only a few vampires. They are developed by the Thin-Blooded or by accident. These are exceedingly rare and require a teacher (who is most likely the original developer or one of his first students) at each level of skill. The teacher must have at least one level of Discipline higher than the one he is teaching. (Mechanics : Learning the first level of a Personal Discipline requires a Mental, Physical, or Social challenge (whichever is appropriate) after one episode of study. If the challenge fails, the Discipline cannot be learned without another six episodes of study. If it succeeds, the discipline may be learned as if it were Unique or Magical, whichever is most appropriate. Disciplines which are very similar to existing Disciplines may also be learned in the same time as Physical or Mental Discipline. No matter what, a teacher is required for each level.) |
