HOME PROJECT SESSIONS RESOURCES

CLASS #9

RESOURCES FOR ASSISTANCE

§        STIMULUS ACTIVITY:  Show and Tell.
Objective:  To honor the CR and remind all of the good memories that will never die.

Description:  GMs pass around the photographs they brought as part of the homework assignment. They share a story or memory that is positive and that they will treasure always about their CR.

§        TODAY’S TOPIC:  IT’S OKAY TO ASK FOR HELP: RESOURCES FOR ASSISTANCE. GL discusses the positives about asking for help; how it aids the CG, the CR, and gives others the opportunity to feel needed. GL discusses using informal support such as friends, extended family, and church members for assistance. GL then talks about formal support and introduces speakers from the community who give information and handouts about resources and also answer GMs questions. Speakers could include leaders from:

The Senior Center
Respite/Adult Daycare/Nursing Centers
The Community Hospital
Social Services
Mental Health
Temp Agencies
Community Volunteer Coordinator Center
Legal Services
etc.

§        HOMEWORK FROM PAST WEEK:  GMs share lists of hated tasks and discuss contacts they were informed of tonight (or contacts discovered as they brainstorm) that could be possible resources for assistance.
