CLASS #7

TIME MANAGEMENT

§        STIMULUS ACTIVITY:  Life is a Puzzle.
Objective:  GMs will feel the stress/pressure of trying to complete a task within a set amount of time and being unable to finish.

Description:  GL gives puzzle pieces (with no picture to use as a reference) to each GM and instructs them to put it together in 60 seconds. GL sets timer that shows the countdown and starts it. Make certain each puzzle is very difficult and probably impossible to complete within the 60 second time frame. Consider mixing up the GMs puzzle pieces so that no one puzzle has all of the proper pieces to complete it.

§        TODAY’S TOPIC:  TIME MANAGEMENT. GL distributes daily schedule planners and works with the group to plan a typical day that allows for such things as:
1. usual daily chores/activities
2. meal times
3. naptime or respite care for CR and relaxation time for CG
4. time for the unexpected, e.g. something occurred earlier in the day that prevented CG or CR from accomplishing something and now is the block of time where that task can be completed.

The group continues to work on their individual planners and GL teaches the importance of prioritizing, being realistic, and learning to live with less than perfection.

§        Break

§        HOMEWORK FROM PAST WEEK:  Share logs and information about pros and cons of various relaxation techniques that were practiced at home. Discuss any positive after-effects of taking time out for self and relaxing.
