CLASS #6
MEDITATION AND SPIRITUALITY
§
STIMULUS
ACTIVITY:
Trataka (steady gazing)
Objective: GMs will experience the relaxation technique of steady
gazing and deep concentration on an object.
Description: GL plays a tape of soft New Age music. GMs sit in a circle
with their backs toward the center so that all are looking away from
each other. GL sets a candle in front of each GM at arm distance, level
with the member’s eyes and lights it. Dim room lights. GMs are to
steadily gaze at their candle for at least one minute and then close
their eyes. The after image inside the mind is now used for gazing. Try
not to move throughout the practice. Relax breathing and let it lengthen
and deepen. Do this for 5 minutes and then ask all to open eyes and blow
out their candles. Slowly brighten the room lights and have GMs turn
inward so they are now facing each other.
§
