Hello to all! I don't think I have yet recovered from all of last night's festivities (trick or treating, costumes, etc.). We are all wiped out. We really didn't let them stay up any later last night, but I know at least Hunter got up WAY before he should have. Apparently he heard a ghost story on the news and couldn't sleep. He was in my room about 15 minutes before his alarm went off (which is when technically he is ALLOWED to be up) to ask if he could put his books in ABC order. Do you know how many books the child has??? Needless to say, the answer was "no". I appreciate his desire to work on educational stuff and all, but so early in the morning??? All that to say, the kids were in bed quite early tonight. I am hoping after I do a little schoolwork, I will be too. :) I think Maria had a good day. She is a funny girl, even when her attitude is not so funny. She woke up very happy this morning. Then she became the closet police. She would stand at our closet door, get ready to close it (NO door is left open with Maria at home), then tell us, no, rather bark at us, "OUT!" and she would point OUT the door! She apparently is liking that word right now. Another Maria funny: She was telling me a long, nonsense story this morning as I was getting ready. Finally, I said, "Oh, really?" She said, with all confidence, "Weally. Weally, weally, weally." I guess she was very serious about her story. :) Apparently today my mom needed to run an errand. She told Maria they were going, which is Maria's favorite pastime. Maria chose a purse from the toy room to take. Mom said she INSISTED on taking it into the store to carry around. Apparently, out of all my children, Maria is going to be the diva. She is already the glamour girl with clothes and shoes. She LOVES putting on church shoes, no matter what day it is nor what she is wearing. And any time she puts on clothes, she just oohs and ahs over herself! I also have to say, Mom, that she MUST have learned the purse thing from YOU. I don't carry a purse. :) I really am losing track of her vocabulary. She repeats almost everything now. This morning she was watching me put on socks. She was quite fascinated with my toes. I said "toe" which she said over and over. She also likes to say, "Good girl," every time we get her buckled. And she is saying "brush" for toothbrush. Probably my favorite one is last night as we left my grandmother's house (G.G.). She said, "Bye, G.G." I know there are many more words she says now, but I cannot remember them. Every time she says them, I think, "I should write that down..." but then I get busy with all of the other parenting stuff. Please pray for Maria...tomorrow is Day Care Day. Apparently this morning at my mom's, she told Mark, "OUT" as she stood by the door. We will see how tough she is tomorrow. :) |
| 11/3/2006 We are still here. Just busy, tired, and cold. I will post more tomorrow, but I will say day care was "better", that Maria is talking up a storm, and she had her coldest day of her whole life today. We look forward to a pretty laidback weekend (we hope). :) In case I forget to say tomorrow, happy birthday, Jenn! I wish we could be with you to celebrate. You are my favorite sister in the world. :)

Happy birthday, Jenn! We wish we could celebrate with you. Don't feel too bad if you are feeling old (older)...you are still younger than me. :) We are doing good. Let's see, it has been a couple of days. Day care went pretty well, even with a "substitute teacher". She did cry on Thursday, but walked in on her own free will. When I picked her up, she was having a good day and was playing with another little girl (whose mother I actually teach with!). Friday, Mark sent a text that said, "NOT GOOD". When I called for details, he told me that it was like the first day he had taken her. I panicked a little and called the day care myself (which if you know me at all, I get VERY nervous on the phone). By that time, they said she was doing fine. When I picked her up, she had yet another teacher and had not even cried during that transition! So it may not be her favorite place, but she is adjusting. We will see how church goes tomorrow... Last night Maria got to experience a football game in 45 degree weather. Since the temps stay in the 70's in Guatemala year-round, we are pretty sure it was a new experience. Out of the three kids, she was the most well behaved. I don't know if she was numb with coldness or what. :) But we made it through half the game, then headed home. Oh, I have more to share, but I have run out of room...more to come tomorrow... |
