If you return to the Main Page, we hope that you will sign our guestbook.  We hope to share the encouragement and kind words with Maria someday.

We have returned, safe and sound...we had a wonderful trip in Branson.  I think I will make a whole separate page for our trip...
Maria's first Branson visit. Just click on the green words...(It is Sunday night, give me a little bit of time...)  We had some special family time and then other times we drove one another crazy.  Typical family trip for us!  We are happy to be home though.  I will post a picture above to give you a little "taste" of the weekend... Have a good week!

I meant to mention that this may be a sporadic week as far as posting goes. I don't know why, but this week is one of my busiest weeks of the year.  Hunter's birthday is coming up this weekend.  We don't have a major blowout, but we do have a family get-together with a lunch and a cake.  Birthdays are special days to me...it is the day we celebrate each of their births and entry into our lives.  Anyway, each year Hunter chooses a theme, so my job is to coordinate with that theme.  This year's theme is John Deere.  You would think green and yellow decorations would be easy to do, but I am not having much luck yet. (I do have the cake pan though)  Anyway, between that and the busy activities of Christmas, plus the end of quarter assessing at school, it is just a busy time of year.

Miss Maria is doing pretty well. She does have her first American cold.  She is quite sneezy and snotty for lack of a better word.  And she has a pretty bad cough when she wakes up.  I will say, it does NOT seem to be slowing her down at all.  In fact, it seems to make her a bit more active.  But you can just look in her eyes and see that she just doesn't feel up to snuff right now.  (We have not resorted to medications yet...)

We continue to be amazed with Maria's language.  She uses the word "Maria" and "Me" a lot to designate that things belong to HER.  (You know the toddler creed?  What is mine is mine, what is yours is mine...that pretty much fits Maria right now)  She is also stringing two words together to make little phrases...like "Sticky...wash" (that would be her face after a milkshake) or "Done milk".  This morning she walked out of her room, looked at the table at my breakfast, and excitedly said, "Stachios!"  (Pistachios)  Let's see, what else. Oh, she thinks almost all animals are dogs or gorillas.  Those are her favorite animal words.  And she is starting to identify clothing (shirt, socks, etc.).  So she is coming right along.

Maria is really enjoying the Christmas book tradition. I think she has about figured out which wrapping paper is HER wrapping paper.  She oohs and ahs as she opens it up. I cannot say she is always very quiet during book time.  But she seems to enjoy the unwrapping part... We also have an advent calendar with Christmas carols.  Last night we were attempting to sing "Oh Holy Night"...I guess Maria had had enough.  She yelled "BIBLE" in the middle of the song, which is how we end "B-I-B=L-E".  We laughed pretty hard...

Last night while sitting on Mark's lap, Maria was eyeing his laptop.  He told her not to touch it.  She finally could resist no longer, reached out and touched it, then swatted at her own hand and said, "No, no..."  Apparently our guidance as parents is not needed any more...

This will be a quick update.  I am exhausted.  I have got to start going to bed before...well, let's just say, I am not a young pup anymore. :)

Maria had a good day.  She started off in a very grouchy mood...I called my mom to warn her.  Well, something clicked, and she ended up having a good day with Grams (which she now says like she has always said it...).  Then tonight we ate an early dinner (for us) and went to the Veggietales Christmas program at a nearby church.  It was one of those times I didn't know if that was a high priority on the finance list, but at the same time, it sounded like a fun family activity.  Obviously, we went for it. :)  And I am so glad we did.  The kids (even the oldest who is about to celebrate his 8th birthday!) really enjoyed it. I won't say that Maria watched the entire thing intensely, but she did watch a lot of it. And for the most part, even when she wasn't watching, she was SO well-behaved, and just sat quietly.  It was just a nice evening. Unfortunately, it was a LONG evening.  And by the time we were home, Maria just lost it.  She cried about everything until she was happily in her bed sucking her thumb and getting ready for sleep.  I think I can identify. :)

Speaking of bed, I am heading that way.  Have a good night!
