1ST APPERANCE: TRANSFORMERS: MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE
MEGATRON was created to be the ultimate Decepticon warrior. He rose to become the leader. He was always equipped with a fusion cannon that could blast through anything. He soon became feared all over CYBERTRON. When OPTIMUS prime was created, the two became bitter enemies. War soon broke out and an attempt by the Autobots under PRIME to find energy ended in an ambush led by MEGATRON. To save his warriors, OPTIMUS crashed the ship into thesurface of Earth. Millions of years later, both sides awakened and the battle restarted.
MEGATRON made several attempts to steal all of Earth's energy. he also had to deal with STARSCREAM'S varoius attempts at usurping command. One scheme MEGATRON pulled was to bring CYBERTRON into Earth orbit and collect energy from the chaotic weather. Another plan he deviced was to challenge OPTIMUS to a one-on-one battle. He cheated by using a machine to give himself the abilities of his troops. OPTIMUS found out and blasted MEGATRON with one shot.
MEGATRON tried to have the Autobots framed as bad guys and exiled from Earth. His plan was temporarily successful but he was eventually found out and defeated. He also was temporarily deposed as leader by BLITZWING and ASTROTRAIN. He did manage to defeat them and get leadership back.
By 2005, MEGATRON had conquered CYBERTRON. He led an attack on Autobot City. The battle was for awhile stalemated, but the Decepticons soon started to break the Autobot defenses. OPTIMUS PRIME arrived and broke the siege by attacking MEGATRON. At first it looked like OPTIMUS would win, but MEGATRON used trickery to critically wound PRIME. PRIME put all his power into one punch and sent MEGATRON flying. He was near death and had to be saved by SOUNDWAVE. On the way back to CYBERTRON, STARCREAM jheticsoned himinto space. As he floated around he ran into UNICRON. In exchange for agreeing to find and destroy the MATRIX, MEGATRON was transformed into GALVATRON.

(Note:In the comics, MEGATRON only turns into GALVATRON in an alternate future. In GENERATION 2, he is rebuilt into a new body that can transform into a tank. He makes a cameo appearance in the BEAST WARS cartoon.)
