After OBERON sent his children into the outside world, PUCK somehow came to the attention of playwrite William Shakespeare who made both PUCK and OBERON central characters in the comedy "A Midsummer Night's Dream". This play cemented PUCK'S role has a trickster. It was a role PUCK felt he was meant to play. In recent years, PUCK has resided in the human world under the disguise of OWEN BURNETT. He returned to his real form when DEMONA called to him using TITANIA'S MIRROR. She forced him into making a spell to get rid of every human in New York. PUCK tricked her and transformed all humans into gargoyles. DEMONA told him to change the gargoyles into humans. PUCK loopholed her again by transforming GOLIATH and his clan into humans. The former Gargoyles managed to defeat DEMONA and PUCK. DEMONA dismissed PUCK from her service but not before he fufilled her wish to not turn into stone during the day. The only price was that she now turned into a human instead. As the time of the Gathering drew near, PUCK didn't want to return to AVALON. He decided to try to bribe OBERON with the PHOENIX GATE. PUCK trapped GOLIATH in a nightmare future of New York where his friends constantly urged him to use the GATE to change history. PUCK himself tried to get GOLIATH to fork over the GATE by changing into ELIZA MAZA. He overstepped when he insisted GOLIATH give him the GATE rather than just grabbing it. GOLIATH saw through the ruse and threw the GATE into the timestream. PUCK finally dropped his disguise as OWEN and engaged OBERON in battle when the fairy-king tried to kidnap ALEX XANATOS. PUCK was beaten by his master but FOX successfully came to her child's defense. OBERON allowed the child to stay and made PUCK his magic teacher. However, he also cursed PUCK so he could never use magic again unless it was to train or protect ALEX. Soon after, PUCK gave the boy his first lesson when the two them started swapping the souls trapped in COLDSTONE into different bodies. PUCK is still ALEX'S teacher to this day (Note: Brent Spiner is best known for his role as DATA in the tv series Star Trek: the Next Generation and its movie spinoffs.
