Symbols
Annonymous
Yesterday, someone, something, attacked my nation.
Deliberate death  unleashed from the sky.
The targets were symbols of America.
Oh God, so many had to die.

Dads and Moms, Sons & Daughters.
An office worker or just a friend.
Policement, Pilots and Firefighters.
This day had no end.

But Oh our symbols.
They are not made of wood, hay or stubble.
For our country was founded on far more.
And out God beckons during the day of trouble.

Our life is not compromised of things.
It's more than wood, glass or steel.
Our heart and nation are God's creation.
And our hearts receive his zeal.

His passion to work and pray.
To give our lives away.
To live the message of the one.
Whose faithfulness is new each day

You see we are a nation, but only under God.
And during this time of questions, ache and loss,
We plead for mercy.
We consider again His cross.

For the greatest symbol and person, in our day,
Is still the one who knew no sin.
The suffering symbol, lifted up,
The way for us to enter in.

Together we rise.
Divided we fall.
Together we mourn.
And at the cross, together, we bow.
