Hugh
Aynesworth, a science and aerospace reporter for The Dallas
Morning News, assumed he’d be just another spectator as
President John F. Kennedy’s motorcade rolled through Dealey
Plaza on November 22, 1963. But then Lee Harvey Oswald changed
the course of history, and Aynesworth’s life as well. He was
the only news reporter to be present at JFK’s assassination,
as well as Oswald’s later capture and his murder by Jack Ruby
two days later. That uncanny coincidence helped thrust Aynesworth
into the middle of the assassination story, where he has remained,
often reluctantly, ever since. He has broken more news about
November 22nd and its convoluted aftermath then any other
reporter.
