Bittersweet
By Harmony Hill
What's bittersweet you ask? Ronald Weasley. You heard right. The lovable, sweet, charming, teasing Ron has a dark side. To most, the red-headed boy is all of these qualities I just listed. That's the sweet side. So what's the bitter and dark side? IT has one name which can strike fear in anyone's heart. Putting IT and Ron together in a sentence will have most running to their mummies. What is IT? IT is most commonly known as The Whip.
You will rarely see this dark side of Ronald Weasley but when it is unleashed, you better hope you are not the target of his wrath. This side is usually triggered when he is frustrated, impatient, needs something to be done, or when Professor Lockhart orders him to. Sometimes, simply because it is amusing. It doesn't help the student body that he is Senior Prefect and is privileged to use The Whip.
But a word of caution to all first years: Don't ever cross paths with an angry Ronald Weasley.
The Weasley temper is enough to bring about The Whip and you don't want to be the one caught at the wrong time. |

Favorite Professor
By John Chang and Julia Rose Antea
We made a poll in the HCR to find out who our favorite professor is. Seven brave Hufflepuff students voted to in the poll to support their fave. Six votes were casted for Professor Lockhart and the remaining vote was for Professor Ripley Guildhall. Professor Lockhart takes the crown for Hufflepuffs favorite prof. One question has arisen, thoughwould the results be the same if we put the poll on the BB and other houses could vote as well? We created a poll on the Bulletin Board asking the same question that the poll in the HCR didWho is your favorite professor? The results are in and unfortunately our beloved Professor Lockhart didnt win. Professor Ripley Guildhall with eight votes won. In second place with seven votes were Professor Snape, Professor Simbi, Professor Opal, and Professor Stephan OConnell. Six votes gave third place to Professor Kelina Bliss. Professor Lockhart, Professor Tom Riddle, and Professor Alba Dumbledore all tied in fourth place. With four votes, Professor Lily Fairydust and Professor Haddington claimed fifth place. Professor Dickinson, Professor Taylor Wallace, and Professor Delia came in sixth place. Sadly, Professor Rachel Morgan ended up in last place, but everyone knows that she totally rocks! So there is in black and white, PADs Hogwarts favorite professors! |

Place of the Month: Devon
By Maya Parker
A county located in England's West Country, Devon was where Shuntbumps, a now-defunct broomstick sport, once rose to popularity. Nicolas and Perenelle Flamel make their home there as well.

Hufflepuffs First Annual Play?
By Ronald Weasley
A short time ago, word around the house of Hufflepuff was that Hufflepuff was going to be putting on its very first play. As my curiosity got the best of me, I decided to ask the actual producer of the so called play if there really was going to be a play. Heres what she had to say.
1. Is there really going to be a play in Hufflepuff soon? Yes and it will be fantastic! We have many people interested in it and auditions are actually not too far from now, starting on July 30th and ending August 5th
2. What will the play be about? We have decided that the name of our play will be PAD's Hufflepuff's Find Out the Secret, and it will be about a group of Hufflepuffs who are about to find out about a rumor going around the school. The group set out in search of the answer to the rumor and discover something that shocks them all!
3. Who are the main characters? These are yet to be decided and since it is getting severely close to the try-out dates I'm sure they'll be announced REALLY soon. So be on the lookout any Hufflepuffs who want to try out!
4. What's this I hear about Ronald Weasley being a body guard for the play? Yes Ron is one of our best body guards! The most active out of the four I would say, it's a pleasure to have him with us.
5. Are you receiving any help for the running the play? Of course! This play couldn't be done without the lovely help of our stage crew members! John Chang, he's the fabulous assistant director. Teagan Kincade, our amazingly helpful set designer. John Chang, having another responsibility, our wonderfully creative script writer, and theres also me as the assistant script writer. Ron Weasley, Darby Queally, and Samantha Davis, all as our down-to-earth hard working body guards! |

Witch of the Month: Gertie Keddle
By Maya Parker
Lived on the edge of Queerditch Marsh in the eleventh century. She wrote rather complainingly in her diary about neighbors playing a primitive form of Quidditch, labeling every entry as the same day of the week, Tuesday; picked nettles in the marsh, invited her friend Gwenog over for a cup of nettle tea.

Ministry Punch Up
By Harmony Hill
A Ministry spokes person today confirmed rumors that there was a good old fashion 'Punch Up' in the main reception of the Ministry of Magic. The Spokes Person claimed that it was a 'wand malfunction' but this reporter didn't believe it. After researching I finally found myself some witnesses to the clash. One wizard said "It's been a while since I seen a good Ole fist fight, but these wizards were going at it like nancy's, slapping and scratching each other, I would of thought they were witches the way they were acting." Another source said "Ohh it was horrible, I was stood right behind them, and the first wizard accidently stood on the wizards in front robe and ripped it. From there it was a battle, neither wanted to use their wands in fear of being punished for the mis-use of magic." While doing some digging the famous Gilderoy Lockhart, author, had contacted me hearing I was doing a story on the fight at the Ministry of Magic and he too had witnessed this. Rushing over to meet him he had this to say, "Did I tell you I had won the Witch Weekly Most Charming Smile Award 3 years running?..Ooo I had, what about my new upcoming book? You know its a story about myself and how I managed to..." Clearly it was just the thought of being in an article and in the paper which inspired Gilderoy Lockhart to come forward. With the conclusion to this story being that never listen to what the Ministry of Magic tells you; to them everything is a Wand Malfunction. |

Magical Me and Everyone Else
By Professor Lockhart
Can you believe I was sitting in the hair-dressers the other day and a group of ladies next to me, who were asking for autographof course, were telling me about a certain Bill Weasley as a child? I couldnt believe my ears what I was hearing. Did you know that Bill was actually thinking about Quitting the Ministry of Magic? I heard that he wants to leave the magical world behind and set up in the Muggle world. Well that wasnt all the girls told me.
They told me that Archibald Alderton, do you remember him? He was the one that blew up the town of Little Dropping in Hampshirewell anyway I hear hes done it again! The Ministry of Magic is going crazy over it. Can you believe hes managed to blow up Buckingham Palace? Luckily for the Muggles though their queen wasnt inside it but if she was we would be in deep trouble! The Ministry of Magic are reported to be casting memory spells on everyone who witnessed the events are trying to come up with a spell to re-build the palace.
The last thing I heard this week was that Heathcote Barbary, you know the guitarist for the Weird Brothers, or was it Weird Sisters? My memory is just at a total blank today! Well anyway, she is rumored to be quitting the Weird Whoever Band and listen to thisshe wants to go Classical! Now I dont know what sort of the band the Weird Mothers, Brothers, Aunties, Uncles, Sisters are but the girls in the salon found this disturbing. Clearly the band isnt as big of a superstar as myself or else I would remember their name.
Thats all the gossip I have for you this time but Im always filled with useful gossipLike for example its reported that Hogwarts today has released that they have a troll stuck in their sewer systemgood luck to them. |

Professor Lockharts Lotions and Potions
By Morgana Willow
I have heard from some, reliable if you can call them that, sources that Professor Lockhart has decided to start a brand of hair care products, called Professor Lockharts Lotions and Potion. It has been told to include products such as Professor Lockharts Magical Shampoo, Amazing Conditioner, Glamorous Gel and a Use-it-or-loose it joke pack for April Fools day. There are also rumors that hell be using special ingredients for these products like gurdyroot juice and crushed beetle wing. Doesnt sound like very nice substances to put on your hair, but you never know, since Professors hair is always oh-so-shiny and na-tur-al, maybe hes onto something? Whether this is just a rumor or something more, I, for one, will be excited to see more products from our fabulous HOH. |
